In the last couple of years Lebanon had the ADSL introduced and for some shallow users this is a great leap.
I have a sensation that me and my children will always talk in Kbits/s when it comes to internet in Lebanon, maybe my grandchildren will probably talk in Mbits/s, sad but true :(:rolleyes:

What I can't get over too though is the page's design. Programming and web design is way cheap in Lebanon compared to other countries. Can't they make a decent page?!!! It looks like a kid was playing with an HTML for dummies book! :D

The country already has bad image in many things ;) And talking about the design yeah it does suck, It looks like it was done by a n00b back in the days of Frontpage. lol@the header and scrolling footer. A 10 year old can do better than this s****. really pathetic :/

I broke the law countless times with MSN video chat and Skype, Im such a rebel.
I dont even know if Laws are really laws in this country. The way the "New Telecom Law" is advertized on this website is like some new product or special offer. Special offers, thats what laws are in this country, for a bit of compromise, you can be Legal! (thanks to the new more lax law), and you can fool yourself about living in a state of Law for a little while. Now you can buy a license, so that you can brag at mundane dinners how much you paid to get it and how you are a model citizen (and it comes with stories of red tape and give you an unlimited right to nag and compain about your martyr victim status).
Otherwise, you will just be Lebanese and do things the normal (illegal) way.
Something like that.

Civil movements arent that better. Its like you are part of a movement and you do super cool meetings and bus trips where you distribute 50 flyers (and take 200 photos for facebook) to a group of wazawez on motorcycles who have no clue, and then circulate a petition for it and get 500,000 signatures, send the petition to the President of the Republic and hope he will do something about it. Of course the president probably dont know what a Betition is, so he will just smile, accept your "delegation", and if you're (very, very, very, very) lucky, then you will make news for a night. But you most probably will end up with things to tell and a right to brag and compain over a beer in gemmayze. And oh, new friends, of course.

It might be fun but maybe we shouldn't fool ourselves.

i just realized something this post belongs also to 2002 reconsider this The MoT (ministry of telecommunication ) does not provide direct

this means this was made before ogero had DSL services !!!!!!!!!! :) they must have changed these nowadays but still have not updated the site still tfeh 3layhom . they cant even take care of an official website :(

HTML is a standard, everyone uses HTML, the problem is when HTML is misused, such as using a primitive table layout for the site. Using such layout for pages in the days of web 2.0 is a big shame for such websites design, I just feel as if am in the 90s when viewing such pages.

This website was most probably made by an idiot using a WYSIWYG editor back in the days when WYSIWYG editors themselves sucked, what he did is opened frontpage, chose a template with already made menus, threw in some images, typed some text, jalason shway 7ad ba3don :P .... and viola a website for a ministry is born! :P

That website is a shame for web design, a redesign and redevelopment is really needed in this case, walla 7aram! :o

Another thing... check this:

Check the dial-up number against VISP. YES! Correct, there is no number, saying: "Not available yet". VISP has a 4 digit dial-up number since
3 years (1620), but MPT refuses to post it, unless we (VISP) stop providing free dial-up access through it!!!

Now Samer might ask me for official papers to prove the above, but unfortunately in Lebanon bribes and threats almost never are asked/given
in an official way :)

But really, whoever doesn't believe - let him call the MPT of Lebanon and listen for their explanation on the case :cool:
