They do not offer Unlimited night traffic. *If* they do, i'd switch to ones that don't. :/
Sodetel does not even guarantee that their service will be available 24/7.

Btw, my neighboor subscribed at Sodetel and the service is te3tir bel mshabra7. Download speed does not reach 30k/sec after 11PM. What a shame.
weird. my friend has reported the opposite. He claims internet is twice as fast as the guaranteed speed. And I believe Sodetel has a special support from the government unlike other ISPs.. correct me if I am wrong.
for fk sake! the latency jumped from 400ms to 762ms!!!!

I never checked my connection for latency, browsing is always fast. Plus I like IDM's 24/7 phone support. They give you quick solutions to your problems.
a month later
Hello, i would like to share info cause i pretty much experienced with all these isp providers.
general conclusion: they all Fu**ing S**K.

for a detailed conclusion.

Sodetel: its the worse, its slow 24/7, and the ping is sky high for almost everything. so if you play online, forget about it.

Cyberia: its better than all regarding speed at normal times, but at night, forget it, and their ping also sucks but not as bad as sodetel.
terranet: somehow the same, but terranet suck at night from 11:00-2:00, so during that time u can do nothing, no games, no browsing, no downloads. But after that and all during the day, its amazing!!! for ping and for speed.

IDM: pretty much like terranet, but ping is a bit worse, but speed is a bit better, but those differences are barely noticed and at night only.

Conclusion: they all suck in general, and they all suck at night. So, never get sodetel, cyberia if you dont play games. the best choice is idm or terranet.

right now iam only usiong terranet, i think its better than those.

Advice: if you can afford internet through satellite, or a static ip with your connection, then do that. That is the Best.
Man, you suck more than them.

If you have ever read something in this forum before starting to write, your watermelon would understand that they try to offer you what they have. Since the only way to get bandwidth is from the "government" (which is not giving anything) - what more any of them could offer to you?

My ass you are experienced...
Thank for the reply geek friend "teodorgeorgiev"

I know their prblm with the gvrnmnt, but that does not change the fact that the internet in lebanon sucks.

and actually i have used all 4 of the mentioned connections, btw i love watermelon a lot.

anyways, i know what they offer, and that is exactly what i was talking about, thought on the terranet website i saw a new non-Dsl offer which seems better but its much more expensive and i can't tell if its that good anyways.

what connection do you use or prefer "teodorgeorgiev", i'll be glad to hear some advice so we can share our watermelons together.

Whatever I use - I am limited to the same what everyone in Leb uses. Yes, the Internet in Lebanon sux, but this does not mean that the ISPs
suck. It is not their fault. There is no real competition between them (it can't be) - all ISPs are screwed in the same way by the government (well, Sodetel is a small exception to this rule).

So, choose your words better next time, please. The ISPs are as much victims of the situation as their users. It is not that they do not want to
improve, they CAN'T... Unlike the "government" which CAN
I live in beirut and I am subscribed with IDM and this is my feedback :

Speed: the speed is really what I paid for, I have a 256k and it doubles after 8:00 PM to become 512k and I download using Internet Download Manager and I get a speed of 29-33 KB/s during the day and 60-70 KB/s during the night, no matter when I download I get those high speeds and this is what kept me with IDM, they didn't lie about the download speed and it is very cool.

Quota: my 256k has a 3GB up and 3GB down and what is nice with IDM is that it is cumulative in other words if you spare some unused traffic it will be added to your account the next month (I have a prepaid cards account) what I mean if this month I used 2GB download out of 3GB the next month I will have 4GB of download quota but if you don't use your internet so often your quota will be accumulated to a maximum of 9GB up and 9GB down. this is pic shows what I mean :

Unlimited night traffic: it's great and of course you can download anything for free during the night, after 11:00 any traffic you consume is not counted I usually does windows and softwares updates after 11:00 and of course make all my downloads at night and keep my PC on Downloading overnight, I consume 6-9 GB during the night download monthly and once I have reached 13GB of download one month but they never called me for abuse, maybe because in my area no one abuses the traffic except me :P so it might be affordable for them.

Latencies: it was awefull in the past 600-700 ms and suddenly it became 190-220 ms during 2 months before the lebanese elections 2009 and now the ping sucks again it is 450-500 ms at the moment.

Support: their support is good and they answer my calls 60% percent of the times.

PS: all what I said my differ in your area.
teodorgeorgiev - your'e right i shouldn't badmouth the isp, its all the governments fault, and Aly thanks for your feedback.
Aly, are you observing a slow youtube streaming lately?
Yes the youtube video streaming is slower than it was before, and my sister also asked me why youtube is slow lately, so I think this issue is from IDM.
Well, it will become worse and worse I think. The bandwidth ISPs have got from Ogero has not been increased since months whilst the number of
customers increases. Many baboons on the same branch of the tree :)
teo i really thought that was the source of the problems and here you go confirming my doubts :) there are really incompetent ppl sticking there butts in the wrong place !
This is Lebanon,
-An ISP claims that they provide 10 people with 256k accounts while they all end up on a shared 1 mbps connection.

-A taxi driver has a car that fits for 4 passengers and he tries to fit 6 passengers in it.

-Power generators (ishtirak l Moteurs) owner have 150 kva generator = (500 amps) sells 750 Amps and overheat his generator and it end up broken like usual.

-An elevator fits for 3 persons but in lebanon fitting 5 persons in this elevator is not a problem.

So many examples can be said .....

it is a shame but well nothing can be changed,at the moment we don't have a government, and if we have a government one day I am sure that Internet will be its last interest.
Aly caught the bull by his tail - there is no government. At least since the last SEVERAL (+4) years... :/
