Can flashget leak ?

hello guys,

here is the thing, i am using flashget to download a file while i am away from computer.. it is the service pack for VS2008 from MS website.. around 870MB or something

> 700 MB is downloaded.. but the thing is that now, when i run the download in flashget, in DU meter the download usage goes to like 50 KB/s ... my connection goes out for reaching the hourly quota, but actually flashget is downloading the file at 2 - 5 KB/s !

if i stop the download, DU meter goes back to normal

so can Flashget "leak" ? anyone faced this thing before ?

( u made sure no virus update going or no windows update )

i've had some weird probs with flashget lately, so i removed it and installed FDM, it's not as fast but pretty decent minus the bugs of flashget

i use flashget 1.7 not the new version, and all is fine :D:D
u made sure no DLL got injected into your flashget process ??

actually the new version seems buggy
since almost 700 MB are done.. if i install the older version , can i resume the download ?

as for the security part... i am using kaspersky 2010... i am sure any strange behavior or strange networks would be spotted

and padre.. how to make sure of that ?

Slightly off-topic, are you sure you're downloading the correct service pack? I have SP1 and its ~240ish MB.

u can check the loaded DLL's using ProceXP or any similar program and u can cross match it with the import table. now, a lot of times program load dll's at run time, but still use ur judgment. :P
But in order for a process to inject a DLL into Flashget, it must be running before hand (or injected into explorer, etc ...)

VS2008 SP1 ENUX151(somenumbers ).iso is 831.32 MB

(Is it only me or is Microsoft really frustrating when it comes to their products download size.. maybe it is only me... but to install mssql server 2008 express masalan.. u need like 1.5 GB of download, it makes distributing your end products using MS stuff to clients such a hassle... and no one would go for an online solution plan )

Padre, I hardly think i am infected... i had to format after 2.5 years and my attempt at windows 7 that lasted less than 24 hours , so the system is relatively clean.. but i am checking anyway :)

it is good to double check the download source.. i was hoping for a smaller SP1 release :) or another version or something !

I'll just curse my way thru this, i will try changing the internet connection
then i will calculate the "leak" and see if it is better to download again without flashget.

I dropped by some internet cafe to see if someone has it. bad luck.. will try couple of more places :D

hi xServer.. it was most probably my mistake

I didn't get the latest build.. was having many issues with PPPOE, couldn't get it to work even after i tried everything in the spell book and in the updates

i can't stay disconnected for more than 24 hours.. my skin starts to itch or something !

I will of course give it a second try.. it is better than XP... and ppl should be mass moving to w7, cuz it is scary if the most popular OS remains something that is so many years old !

I will set w7 in parallel as soon as i can :)

and regarding the flashget.. i am just leaving it for download.. not much i can do
it is almost over.. afterward.. i will give flashget couple of more tries.. if same error happens.. i am gonna replace with something else.. it doesn't make sense getting stuck using an old outdated version :D

1- It's Xsever not "xServer" :P
2- I am using Windows 7 RC 64-bit since April and not a single problem yet. The RTM build also leaked and there are cracks for it online. Free windows 7 basically.
