Add here - Ogero not member of BIX. Capacity is low, and for example Alfa website hosted at TerraNet "answering" over international link, probably because of lack of capacity on BIX. So idea of IX is flawed and didnt work properly yet (at all). And seems no further steps is done to solve this hassle.

Probably good to add here they KEY of all issues. Lebanese government have -44 BILLION debt. Telecom sector (Ogero) generates 30-40% government revenue. At same time Ogero didn't paid many bills, so seems serious part of this revenue generated from someone outside pockets. This is not technical issue, but it is reason why all movements of government looks so strange. They are scared to damage feeding box, which is filling their pockets. Thats all about.

First what should be done - make them interested to grow independent internet market in Lebanon.

I think also good to add some numbers from official statistics (with quoting sources), and to show that management of internet done by government wrong. Actually their job not to build internet infrastructure and sell internet, but to create laws that will regulate market. We have to give proof and facts of their previous "job". Especially numbers, how much investments done and how they are gone.

If someone can get his hands on the Lebanon Information Technology Report 2009 (it costs $495). I think there might be useful data in it.

the idea is not to defame Ogero in every possible ways, every huge corporate website in Lebanon has it flaws (missing and outdated links and stuff).

Lets bring the document a constructive view, not a desctructive one :)

Well, I read the document. Says nothing impressive and jaw-dropping. Same old story...

Anyhow, I made a solid improvement to the project document. Those who wish can review it.

What is left is to calculate the approximate prices for completing Stage1 of the project (hope Denys and Alex would help).

Then I will really need help:

1. Content improvements - just add, suggest, edit.

2. Someone experienced in Visio and other stuff to make 1-2 missing diagrams.

3. Someone experienced with Microsoft Word (I suck at this one).

4. Fixing of typos and wrong grammar

Once it starts looking nice we can discuss the idea of spreading it all around. I could sponsor the printing of some thousand copies of this
and spreading them amont the universities.

I was gonna bring up the cost issues.. but seems it is covered.
I would personally pitch in with some money as well and try to get a good deal in the printing :)

I am short on time, so if I help it's gonna be slow, but here's what I can do:
I am quite experienced in Word, so I guess I can help with this (but you got me confused: what's so complicated that you need someone for?)
I can also *probably* distribute it in ALBA (Académie Libanaise des Beaux Arts) and to some communities, pubs etc.
I can also draw the diagrams, although I never used visio or any dedicated diagram tool; but I am used to make my own diagrams in illustrator, if this helps.
I am short on money too but I don't think this requires much so if I can make a difference I am willing to pitch in as well.

No one is asking money. I will sponsor the printing from my own pocket. Just find some good offers guys. Maybe for some 1000-2000-5000 units?

For Microsoft Word - the document looks ugly, doesn't it? It needs to be stylized and to look like a professional document. I am a notepad/mcedit/joe guy.

Diagrams - lets someone with decent Internet and networking experience to draw them (I do not say you don't have, I do not know your experience) since he will know exactly what to draw.

for visio, you want something like that? (it's just a draft) if not, then just sketch something, scan it, send it to me and i'll see what i can do...

and just a question...
1 of the advantages of BIX on steroids would be faster transfer rates among users from 2 ISPs which are part of BIX, correct? and obviously not using the international links. but is it happening with today's BIX? what is it being used for today other than the gaming servers? is traffic going threw it being counted in the user's quota or not? if a user on terranet is playing on 1 of VISP's gaming servers, is the traffic counted as part of the quota?

and a question just to make sure i'm getting the idea behind this project. the whole idea is to provide "ONLY" the layer 1 to the ISPs, all other layers are the ISP's responsibility, including if they want or not to interconnect with others and with how much bandwidth(which would again keep ogero out).

The idea of BIX is totally screwed now.
Because bandwidth low and latency high (welcome to obsolete equipment, used by DSP's, which is abandoned maybe since 10 years in world), the access to server via BIX sometimes even worse than over internet.
When proper links will be done, it will be reasonable to place on LEBANESE hosting websites, game servers, to do national bittorent websites and etc.
