As we have talked in another topic, we're thinking of starting a project to compare ISPs in Lebanon.
I have therefore created a mindmap on mind42.com that we can edit collaboratively.
For those who wish to participate, please post here (I will send an invite to the e-mail address you registered with to the forums – so double check it).
Also, Mind42 has a Gtalk widget, so that we can chat while editing the mindmap, so if you have a gtalk account make sure to specify it (if the email in your profile is a different one).

Good move, thank you.
rolf
Its useless, all ISPs are crap due to the governement monopoly on the backbone.
No miracles can happen.
Miracles are illegal in Lebanon
Padre
Hahaha !! Good one rolf :)

At least good to try. Till all sit and watch the show - nothing will happen.
BashLogic
even better,
use google maps to add pins on the lebanese map of where there is decent connections, horrible connections and dead connections.

Lets do a no-internet week...
One week during which eveyrone will keep internet usage to the strict necessary (job emails, etc...)
To protest the high prices.
What do you think?
BashLogic
i think that needs to be like no internet for 3 months to have an effect on the ISP

I wouldnt mind 2 monthes but i think 1 week is a good start...
Im sure it will have some effect, less people going over quota. but some ppl migh take advantage for faster download... hmmm
Padre
yeah :P
a strict internet usage -> ISP's will be happy :P Less usage -> less paying for bandwidth :D
mir
exactly Padre !
Rolf , Hello No ! and we still have work to do and food to put on the table !
if we are to do some protest work... let us do an abuse the internet thing... overcharging their networks.. like everyone heavily scheduling downloads at a special peak time hour already !
Let us all call and complain every single day, share their numbers, email addresses, try to put their names on the press, i donno... we should play the nice and we should play the ugly... do some big graphiti wall painting stating our attitude... i would personally pay for billboards that attacks all the politicians and asks them to do something about it
i would deface part of their website.. and make it as an old version.. claiming that this is how it needs to look in order to be able to load.
make their lives hell if it reaches a dead point. not sweet
every country in the region is better than us... it is easier for me now to re-locate to libya or africa and have a more decent internet.
the whole IT infrastructure is suffering and being cripled

I don't know what it's about, but I'm concerned about the Internet future in Lebanon. I can't live with only 3 GB download a month, DUH!!! xD

I do not think that I can give some feedback on the Lebanese ISPs - I am not living in Lebanon. But I am on my way to finish something
that (IMHO) might shake the Internet situation in Lebanon, at least up to some extent.
You know, people, everyone can step back up to some extent, no matter how calm he/she is. When your back touches the wall, you can't step
back anymore.
I am trying also to bring a popular person to help - Veny Markovski (one of the ISOC members). I am trying to persuade him to review the Lebanese Internet situation in public (press).
Tomorrow I will post something here, hope you will like it.
BashLogic
there,
added a small branch of some attributes to regard when comparing ISP services. instead of redoing what was layed out, i branched of as "isp companies"
