I cannot tell you about prices, it depends on the reseller, some of them are really abusing. So far I pay like 50,000 LL, here is how it looks at the moment but they are working on it, I see improvements everyday but again it is not really stable :

You're downloading at between 3 and 5 mbps???!! I thought their fastest plan was 512 kbps :/ Or is that just due to burst? Unlimited quota? Would you be able to download about 1 GB/day with no penalty or speed restriction? Can u get that directly from VISP or is it only through resellers?
no they have much more but actually because It is a SubISP. My reseller is managing the speed. I am not a direct customer. However I get a minimum of 2mbps and with burst it gets up tp 8mbps

well I know a sales person (well a wife of a college actually) who says Sodele do have the unlimited at no extra caps. but then they do state that it goes by the fair use policy, when you ask them what does that mean ... err umm errr m,, NO ANSWER .. lol niam guessing 12 GB per month as it is a standard in lebanon now.

ive been a terranet user for about a year and a HEAVEY HEAVEY online gamer, PS3 mosltly. and justa bnout a month back did i find the PS3 online experience to be really bad... i found out that we can pay 120$ per year (yes year) so they shift the DSL to the fiber connection rather than the satelite and thus less latency and a FIXED REAL IP per user.

as for downloading caps F*** THEM MAN, when i was part of a reseller from VISP i was downloading at 30GB per month, with terranet i went up to 50GB per month before the cap, now iam stuck with this SH**.

if VISP started fixing their latency and better sub resellers, then ill shift to them.. this is all a waste of online experience for us junkies.

by the by, IDM / Terranet / Cyberia suck, Sodetel has the best online experience thus far, why do you ask? well they hold the least amount of users (home) till now and yet they have the same bandwidth allocated by the gov. so you get a better connection by logic.

waiting for the new conenctions to come to lebanon as jebran bassil said a few months back ... yeah right... MEH
I honestly never understood how people reach the limit. What do you guys download?

Interesting! :)
but have you verified this information? How much less latency are we talking about here?
What should I look at in my traceroute to see whether I'm on the satellite or the Fiber Optics?

well for me it is tons of metal mp3s, ALOT OF DOCUMENTARIES, some series and many movies :) ... this is all without to say programs, pics, trailers and so on ..
well,

once again we see how the interconnected network services suck!

hopefully once the BIX is setup, the operators/ISP can hopefully improve their policies regarding limitations.
they should be able to fairly easily configure so that the traffic that travels within lebanon has no capacity limitations and should they still forsee a need to for a limitation on the global connections then retain it.

if they would do this, the international connections would be less congested and timeout latency would improve for various services, torrent, gaming etc..
within the coming few months (maybe a bit more) we are getting 40GB of bandwidth with the new mediteranean fiber line.. and another few GBs from India also ... so thatll help us alot.. but until then.. MEH
Isn't 1GB per day a little too much? So, in a few months you'll no longer have any space on your hard drive if you don't delete anything lol.
well not if you have a 2TB NAS waiting to be filled ..

i called terranet support and they verified this. but as you said the best way is to test it through a traceroute and see if your really into a low latency field.

sodetel, IDM and Cyberia also confirmed this.

1GB too much? after 3days im travelling to Europe and im getting a 10/1 connection(Sadly the 30/2 is not available in the area i live there:() for $25/month(no limits) and each hour i download like 6GB:P

as for the "having no more space on my Hard drive" .. i'll get me one of those nice 1TB External HDs:)

i'm using cyberia 256kbs and i have double speed and unlimted the connection is pretty good, but the latency is so high, fuck cyberia for their high latency when i am playing garena the ping is between 500ms-1200ms,beleive or not, next month i will switch to ogero that is offering the most high quality in lebanon and latency between 130ms-200ms at 256kbs
What to download? Have you used the internet?! And 12GB/month is total BS. I used to be mad when my cxn used to be 1GB/day. I can't imagine 12GB/month.
