All the mags and online reviews vote the 360 the better buy for several reasons. And a lot of people have brought up good ones here.
Personally, the price of the PS3 is not justified. And if you're gonna buy something now. Just wait a year, buy the new Microsoft gaming system that should be out next year.
This one, along with the PS3 has reached the max potential. (graphics wise).

Im sorry U just need to put urself together...
I was an official retail sales representative in Switzerland back in 2005, when the MS 360 was launched in EU... That time every one wants to purchase the Fucking tray becuz it was way better than any other console back in time... The XBL is a superb experience for people outside the 3rd world countries and MEA is of course of on of them, you will never experience the true potential of that networking unless you live in USA-Japan-switzerland-france-uk-singapore-hong kong etc... and ひろしゅくdont say that u know what is all about... thats くそ.
Per instance i bought one before it was introduce in lebanon and the middle east back in november 2005... when u guys start buying it here mine was in MS CS for hardware error none as " the 3RLFD" and yeah to cut it short... it was good, it was superb, now its lame, i consider it old and super ひどい made and it doenst make sence anymore... PS3 is better in every aspect and when someone says its 360 is cheaper yeah becuz it was out 1 year before the PS3, it is bad made, u have to pay for xbox live, backward compability is crap cuz all xbox games are biblicaly aweful, it wont last more than couple of months, it will cost u 60 to 100 USD to be repaired cuz the GPU was made by chinese with americans, is like blending sausages with ice cream what do u expect the fucking theory of chaos!!! they lost the war to the blue-ray... HD DVD was an extra purchase and not included any bundle or packages (gotto say that), HDMI wasnt included and wasnt supported for all whom bought the previous consoles they got stuck and selling those are like selling used tires, they are everwhere and no body wanna buy them... Now what about the HDD we've got the Fucking 20GB thats to MS assholes u can get arround 11. ~ depends and basically arround 11-12GB, for what cash memory or using some what!!! it load from a CD and its not installed, oh yeah Updates my ass...
It sounds a like Vacum cleaner and it's will heat up easily, it will scratch your disks....
When they introduce the Damn Elite I was looking forward to it way before it was released, no all what we expected was fiction, included HD, 1080p is not native resolution unlike the PS3 is, we are playing 60-80% downsacles version on our PS3 and OMG we didnt experience the true potential, the 360 HDD is not removable unlike the ps3, u can change it anytime u want, buy copying yoyr files Via USB-PSP-PC-MEMORY CARD-SD CARD and get any 2.5 " Sata 5200 RPM laptop hard disk and take some screw up, plug it scre back and format!
If you want me to continue u will fail... i have wrote articles about the new generation consoles, im not showing off or something... i just wanna give some real figures, just a little
僕輪PS3ですされだXぼ360やすいわりうです
cheers...

Running linux on a console is like frying eggs with a hairdryer.
You can do it, but it gets you no where.
nuclearcat
Yes, really?
And then tell me where you can find hardware with Cell processor and open SDK for Linux? Or maybe you have idea where you can buy PC with HDMI interface for your LCD? And BlueRay drive. Or easy hackable box with PowerPC (perfect way for practicing programming for big-endian architecture)? Safety system that wont let u destroy ur data by mistake also inside, so it is more safe to install linux than doing that on your PC.
All this in PS3.
True geeks should try install linux there. Gamerz and Lamerz who like watch pictures in books instead of text, playing consoles without hacking them, using PC for MSN and facebook under Windowz Vista - good luck for them and no respect. Pure consumers, beloved ones for Microsoft and other giants.

From GEEK point of view - it is a box with Cell(PowerPC PPU+SPU) processor, 256RAM, enough large HDD, USB ports, network (wifi+ethernet). Media Center in PS3 works flawlessly, and if you know how to manage DLNA, you can play movies, music, watch pictures from your laptop hdd over network(even wireless) to PS3, i did that. True amazing experience.
MSN is just simple example. If you can run it with Festival TTS engine you can just make fun on not very smart friends, that u ask TV company to transmit ur MSN over special channel :-D
Only geeks can explore power of any hardware.

Hold your geek rage for a second.
If it works for you and you can use the hardware to your benefit that's great. However based on your previous posts you did not insinuate anything of the sort.
I stand by my comment, If the purpose is not leveraged by the actual need, installing linux on PS3 is a waste.
nuclearcat
xterm , i am using PS3 to port my software for big-endian architecture and i'm working to run network monitoring on LCD of boss over PS3 + links(software) + framebuffer.
Other things i dont have time now.
Yes geeky rage, sorry to surprise you, but you are on geeks forum.

i think frying eggs with a hairdryer can produce a a very, very thin omelette

most new LCDs have integrated VGA input, isn't it cheaper and less noisy (ps3 is louder than a damn washing machine!!!) to get a cheap PC and use it for that? now yeah, if you already have a ps3 in your living room, it's less hardware laying around...
but anyways, i still vote for ps3 for its flexibility and multifunctionality.

battikh - VGA is analog, while HDMI is digital. Much more equipment have HDMI than VGA. And things on HDMI is really nice ,like digital audio channel over same cable. There is noticeable difference between them on high refresh rates and resolutions, VGA is "soaping" on regular cables.
PS3 VERY silent, i cannot hear any sound from it.
To find something same cool looking will cost actually even more than PS3 price.

And the xbox 360 sounds like a plane engine lol... they don't need HD audio because they won't hear it anyway xD...

yes, i agree with that, but what you need depends on what you're doing. do you need HDMI for a monitoring application? don't understand me wrong, i'm absolutely with you about the general idea, what i was wondering was if you really need something as powerful as a ps3 for a monitoring application. as i said, if you buy a ps3 JUST for that, then it's over priced, but if it's ONE of the MANY things it will be used for (as the PS3 can be used in many ways in a living room), then it's definitely a good choice.
nuclearcat wrotePS3 VERY silent, i cannot hear any sound from it.
is it? damn, there must be something wrong with mine then... after using it for 10min, it starts covering the sound of the washing machine... am i the only one having sounds issues with the ps3? i guess i should try putting it in a more aerated place...
nuclearcat
HDMI already available :-) VGA... well, i had some issues even to manage proper resolution on it (refresh rates, picture is "shifted" because it is analog and need calibration.
3 PS3 i seen and played, all was silent.

What makes X360 special is its online gaming potential (Gears of War, Halo, etc.).
Given the fact that we're technologically impaired in Lebanon, and can only (mostly) benefit from single player games, PS3 is an obvious choice. It has the superior single-player games : Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy 13-Versus, Prototype, InFamous, Uncharted, etc.

Wrong! PS3 absorb 32 to 60 players online which is more Fun, Call of duty 5, killzone 2, Resistance 2 and many more... research! ur games are too old

Darn, I hate to interact with people whose can't even read properly. I was listing single player games only, capice ? Besides, the fact that you couldn't come up with more than two exclusive PS3 proves my point.
It's a known fact that Xbox live is vastly superior to Playstation Network in terms of online gaming and reliability. KZ2 and Resistance 2 rock online because they're played on sony proprietary servers. On the other hand, most third party titles are a bitch to play online on Ps3. Xbox live is in a league of its own. "Research!"
I mean, you're entitled to your opinion about PSN, but don't patronize people about it, especially when your nonsense is disproved by the technology community. There's countless articles praising XboxLive's dominance over PSN.
As for whats "more" fun, then Gears of War/Gears of War 2 blow every other multiplayer game out of the water.

Knowing that Lebanon is from PAL regions and America is NTSC so buying an Xbox 360 from America won't work here in Leb? And as far as I know that HDTV don't have NTSC/PAL thing
