It will be maximum stupid to tell YES, and will be lebanese sales manager way. I cannot give such promises without knowing exact situation, and none of ISP's knows if backbone will be available at all.
But most probably yes, you will be able. When backbone will be real, not on paper, i can talk about that.

Yeah. That is very true. 15 years ago, you would see kids playing in the streets after schools.
Now after schools they go back home and chat with each other on msn and facebook :D

During the war in July 2006, we were stuck without electricity for a month. It was bad but it was somehow a good thing. My neighborhood back in achrafieh was full of kids playing on the street for the whole month. Over 30 kids in main karm el zeitoon street crowding the narrow street. cars couldn't pass. it was very nice. then war ended and electricty came back. kids disappeared from the streets again.

1- Do you know if VISP will have DSL offers by November for sure? I mean can I apply in mid-October for a DSL connection starting November?

2- Is it true that VISP will install a satellite only if at least 2 persons in the buiding have accounts and each one takes a 2 Mbps speedt?

1 - no info yet for sure.
2 - for wireless there is policy for minimal amount of clients in building, yes. Because wireless unit has maintenance cost, we dont install units for only one broadband account for sure. Details i need to check at sales.

I can confirm regarding the 2nd point, I have contacted the sales team of VISP, they can provide following wireless connectivity

for 1 user - one time installation $165, 256 Dedicated connection @ $165 per month (till last week they didnt had confirmation for this connection if it will be upgraded as per new decree)

for more than 2 users:
one time installation $165
2 users = 2x 2Mbps connections @ 77$ per user
3 users = 3x 1.5 Mbps connections @55$ per user
4 users (max) = 1 Mbps connections @ 33$ per user.

Edit: there is a possibility of u taking 2x Mbps connections alone by paying $154/ per month but it will give u 2 2Mbps connections as 4Mbps one one connection is not a possibility due to technical limitation.

I cannot resume download anymore when download from webhost like filesonic . I have a premium account and every time i have to restart the download. i tried the same laptop on OGERO DSL it works and resume. but with VISP broadband it cannot.

Exactly, I'm having the same problems with many sites, particularly YouTube. I usually download very important videos from the site. But it's not possible anymore since YouTube downloads aren't resumable and broke during the first megabyte or so. Note that I tried to download from both MOBI and Terranet DSL and it worked like a charm - seems like a VISP issue, only. nuclearcat, can you explain what's the problem please?

People of the VISP, how are your download speeds ? It's been two days my download's running on 7 kb/s all day long.

Indeed, I test my connection in the morning and after midnight, the results show a average of 750kbps.
Couple of weeks ago, my speedtest showed 2mbps...This is saddening.
And don't get me started on connection at peak time (5PM), see for yourself:

it's been like that for the last few days. I sure hope we get the IMEWE upgrades. looking at the other thread, wise didn't.

as we all know , upload in lebanon is extremly slow .. slower than a snail so imagine this :

so please stop advertising 1mbps while actually people are receiving 80kbps..
