i remember a good time ago when i had Cable from a "ISP" down my house.. i could open the "v-enjoy" thing+ play on their CS servers lol.. it just turned out that the guy under my house was getting the connection from them..
things have changed.. but overall. which ISP u choose it'll always suck(i don't like generalizing but this is the sad Truth in Lebanon) :(
thanks to the Government n it's lil Monopoly pal(Ogero) offcourse :/

it would be nice if i can try the real ip nuclearcat
one question : with visp i can access some websites restricted for usa , on other connections ( non visp ) i will get : this website is not available outside the usa .
Will getting a real ip change that ?
are you considering selling real ip for end user accounts at a later stage ?
hussam
nuclearcat, I have a problem with viewing cached google search results.
open google.com, do any search and click on 'Cached'.
I get "Access control configuration prevents your request from being allowed at this time.
Please contact your service provider if you feel this is incorrect."
'Cached' shows a copy of the page the last time google crawled it.

hussam, have you been experiencing extra-latencies/lag in the online game you play after the real IP was applied ?
hussam
yes, but it's not related. today, 1100+ ms lags started at 11 AM which is bad since starting monday, I work till early evening so it means no more online gaming.
invalid-user-43
Not in my case. Anyways, i'll try switching back to fake IP, and see what happens. =p

Nuclearcat, I think everyone's concern is:
While we are all dedicated VISP users and we want to continue using visp connections, a lot of us chose VISP because of the reputed reliability of the connection and we are finding it weird that a big ISP with such a big user base is experiencing problems that are making online gaming impossible.
We are concerned that if this is going to require a political change, then things won't get fixed.
So the question is will this get fixed or should we start looking for alternatives? None of us want to look for alternative connections. In my case, it's impossible because other ISPs require I have a phone line which I don't.
Is VISP going to eventually fix this or just ignore it because online gaming isn't as important as web browsing?
Will VISP think it's ok if hussam and a few other customers lose their Internet connections because they are just a few users and we don't care if they only need Internet for online gaming?
Suddenly deciding that it isn't profitable to give end-users a good latency and stripping everything from us isn't fair.

^ what he said. is there any chance in fixing this issue.
been a customer of VISP for about well lets see 3 years now, and im somewhat disgusted.
hussam
I wouldn't say disgusted. It's upper management decisions and not nuclearcat's decision but it would be nice if he could relay to them how users feel.
erixemaan
In my case! i have a double connection.. 128 from ogero and a 256 from Visp!! well i have them both connected to my pc! i can manage which connection i want to work on! gaming will be on ogero with like 100 ms latency!! browsing downloading and all the other stuff will be on Visp!! i pay in total like 55$ but it s ok!! i think it s the only solution! well u can try IDM instead of Ogero!

I never directed anything at nuclearcat... heck at least he told us what the problem was, he's just a guy that does his job
if only if there was some customer support then it would be nice, yet either way i doubt that would make things any better.

Yes, of course he's just doing his job. I'm not suggesting otherwise.
Well, let's see what he replies.

As a sidenote, this is the most epic thread on LebGeeks :p.
Maz7006
Indeed, for such an Epic Fail ISP.
hussam
I got this reply in my support ticket.
Currently we can't do anything regarding that matter, we need to wait untill Ogero provides us with a good channel.
I can't understand how a big ISP can't afford adequate capacity. I'm not flaming them. I just don't understand.
nuclearcat
I am a bit tired of discussing same thing. I told many times - why here competition is not very fair and etc.
hussam
Is the problem lack of bandwidth to accommodate all customers or hardware to handle all requests during the evening? Can the http line be also used for online gaming even if just a few games?
nuclearcat
At evening all lines is full. For some customers there is internal backbone issues, which we are going to solve soon.

Nuclearcat, any updates on when there may be a capacity update for online gaming?
It also seems I've back to a 172.x.x.x IP :(
Actually nevermind the IP thing. it's not important.
nuclearcat
hussam - on renew ip probably lost. I am working now on automated interface (at customer.visp.net.lb) , probably will be introduced this week. Customer will be able to operate on some parameters of his account.
Btw we introduce FUP free time, i publish now announce at customer.visp.net.lb
