Any news ?
Ping seem to have improved a bit. If they can be improved a bit more it would be great.
nuclearcat
No news for now.

nuclearcat, I sent you a PM.

It would be nice to see an improvement in QoS in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 1 and 2, or in general online gaming.
All online gaming seems to not work anymore, as in its too latent.
I was actually getting good and consistent ping rates with those games
I was averaging anywhere from 200-300, and i was really satisfied
Any chances of checking out what's the problem?
hussam
It seems that something happened on Wednesday/Thursday.
Before Thursday, I'd get 400 to 700ms latency. Since thursday, I get up to 4000ms latency.
I don't know the inside technical details, but it seems there is no QoS at the moment. Was there a problem that requires that QoS priorities be fixed?
Please add or restore QoS (because I believe there was QoS last week) for port 2000 for game eternal lands.
game server is : game.eternal-lands.com
IP: 213.152.3.5
port: 2000

hussam wroteHere's something weird. In the last 79 hours, I've used (cumulatively) 244MB down and 51MB up. that's an average of 80MB per day. It still says 319% of 7 Days Fair Usage. Sounds weird to me.
It still says the same thing. Could this be the cause of internet not working most of the day for me?

First of all, about the gaming with VispGaming
Teodor, put up a Server for Warcraft3(dota included), but the game was spiking all the time, so it wasnt playable... but never knew why was it so and if it was fixable... am sure a number of dota players are a lot , we just need the server running good so we can tell ppl about it and they have a good expereience...
Playing Dota on Garena is out of the question ^_^, very high ping...
Second there must be something we can do to fix this internet thingy, i mean the power is with the people and i think we are the people :P... so we should start doing something about it, ma bi sir hek...
we pay like mini 35$ for nearly shit connection while in other country they pay like half of the price and they got amazing speed and stuff... and why in the hell isnt lebanon in the paypal and most internet lists? African countries that nearly dont exist due to hunger have paypal and more internet services...
something must be done here, we cant just let this go... isnt there a place we can shout our voices and hopefully we can get some good numbers and make some change for a change?
for long have the goverment promised us with better connection, news papers like from 2006 goes like in 2 years we will have amazing internet connection, we heard that too much... if we still believe the media we seriously need to check our sanity :D...
Something must be done

update : since 2-3 days, garena is playable (not superb, but at least playable) from 2:30 AM till about 3:00 pm ...
can the QoS be improved for the rest of day hours as well ?

update : Garena is not working anymore. The problem occurs during the "IP Looking Up...." phase.
EDIT : tried other online games, not working as well.

Nuclearcat, will whatever happened on the 21st of January that broke game.eternal-lands.com:2000 be fixed at some point?
VISP phone support is sort of avoiding replying (all they said is we contact you when we fix and they put my support ticket on hold) and since this is the main use (if not the only use) for the connection, I'd rather know if it will be fixed even if it takes time for a fix to be completed. I don't have a facebook account...I don't have a hotmail account...and this one online game is why I have a computer at home. So basically, I have no use for internet or a computer at home at the moment till this gets fixed or till I know there are plans to fix it even on the long run.
Even a reply like "we'll fix it in one year, 3 months and two days" is good enough but leaving us in the dark is not nice. We are paying customers after all and VISP is expected to act professionally.
Please reply, mate. you don't have to reply in this thread. A pm will be good enough please.

I called VISP support again today. I talked a few minutes with them. they said hopefully it won't take more than a month to fix online gaming. I consider this to be good news to me because it means they are finally giving straight answers.
nuclearcat
hussam - they can't estimate how much it will take, since it depends not on VISP. It depends on government, who doesn't give requested bandwidth.

Sad news indeed. If the government can't handle it's business, why be a country to begin with? All politicians in Lebanon care about is how much followers each politician has. It's a popularity contest between politicians. Ironically, no smart person cares about the name or face of the politician. We only want them to stop the charade and actually start caring about the people and the country. It's embarrassing. Don't they care what other countries think when they see this happening? Absolutely no politician in Lebanon ever cared even about his own followers. None of them are even fit to be leaders or politicians to begin with. My 8 months old baby daughter can do better than them.

Can't VISP look for another solution? Nothing in the government ever changed or will ever change. Waiting for the government to do something is 'waiting for ever'.
nuclearcat
hussam - we did.
We took from Lebanese ISP bandwidth... it was those "Barouk" ISP (their official name was Hotspot SARL or SAL, i dont remember). Noone said thanks, but hundreds was smashing us on forums when government closed them, and mixed with mud names of my bosses. Noone was on our side, and noone helped me in my battles on forums.
So, thanks, it is not appropriate. We follow maximum legal way now, and we don't take risk searching bandwidth from other ISP's, except very big ones (even it is shitty and not much choice).
hussam
So basically around the 21st of last month, ogero started giving you less capacity than before?
nuclearcat
Price for that backbone is not profitable to give it to end-users.
hussam
nuclearcat wrotePrice for that backbone is not profitable to give it to end-users.
So no alternative unless ogero makes it's prices cheaper or you find another cheaper source?
Can I pay for better latency maybe?(within a reasonable price of course).
nuclearcat
This days no cheaper source. You forgot that government have absolute monopoly on international backbone.
Reasonable price... right now seems Lebanon is out of capacity. To get affordable backbone we need at least 1000 people who is ready to pay for internet a bit more. I think it is near impossible to do that.
