AVOlio wroteSo far, I have thought about this combination:

-I7 9700k. 433+48$=481$
-MSI MEG Z390 ACE. 311+34$ = 345$
-G SKILL Trident Z 16Gb (2x8Gb) 3200MHz 160+18=178$

Total = 1004$.

What do you think?

Later on i can get an nvme SSD.
Do you recommend the Intel 660p that pcandparts have in stock now?
What types of games do you play? If they are CPU intensive like civilization 6 i would spend the extra 100$ on the i9 9900k as it is multi threaded 8C/16T unlike the i7 9700k 8C/8T and in my opinion the 9900k is more future proof and worth the extra 100$. As for the motherboard and ram they are solid choices just remember to enable the xmp profile so the ram operate at the advertised clock. I would not buy the intel 660p as the read/write speeds are not on par with samsung's nvme and they are budget orienteded SSDs and have some drawbacks but still better than any HDD. Mutiplayer I play like games pubg and Battlefield.
Single player, basically any sort of triple a title that comes out, I play it, like far cry, fallout, middle earth shadow of war, tomb raider and any other games that I find interest in playing.

Also, and I forgot to mention this in my first post, but I have an HTC vive.
And even though I'm not using it now, when I finally graduate, I'm gonna set up a specific room for it and start playing VR.
I already own fallout 4 vr.

So, back to my choice,
I was already somewhat thinking that, If I buy the msi carbon pro Ac motherboard instead of the Meg ACE and save a bit on the mb choice then I would add that extra amount to the cpu and get the i9 9900k.

I agree with that.

i9 9900k is the fastest mainstream gaming cpu with 8C/16Th with the 1st two cores running at 5Ghz turbo boost & the 8th Core running at 4.7Ghz turbo boost. That is excellent for single threaded gaming performance and games that scale well on more than 5 cores , a double win with out any OC.

Note: As I discussed in my i9 9900k thread , to OC the i9 9900k the VRM of the board need to be solid - both in the VRM Amp & VRM Stages. The i9 9900k needs some good power when OC'd , therefore for a sustained good OC without any VRM thermal or power cpu throttling.

As for the NVME choice the Samsung 970 EVO is top notch in R/W speeds & highly recommended choice in the industry.

So as per this image,
The msi Meg Ace is not good for the 9900k?
Not sure how accurate is this, but you can get the Gigabyte Aorus Pro Wifi and it is 100$ cheaper than the Ace.
@Aly
It's out of stock at pcandparts.
Only good ones available are msi

All Hero XI , Formula XI , and Code XI uses a beefy 4 phases design that deliver above 200 W of power to the i9 9900k. The end results what matters not the embedded design it self. Many boards uses 8 or 10 phases VRM but with low Amp per VRM power stage

You need simply a quality z390 board to OC the i9 9900k , similar story with a z370 on the i7 8700k.

Overclock.net did a very detailed table and divided all the z390 ( From Asus and other Brands into Tiers)

The Hero X , Formula and Code are Tier 2 Boards

https://www.overclock.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=228376&d=15

8 × SiC639 50A PowerStage on the Formula , Code , Hero XI will ensure 200 - 250 W no power throtelling at all. With proper case cooling you can OC a i9 9900k normally and this matches testimonies of end hardware enthusiasts actually owning such boards. End result is very solid.

Good Parts.

I suggest to go with the

Cougar Panzer EVO RGB  - for local availability

Personally ,

I went with the

Corsair Crystal Series 680X RGB

https://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-Crystal-Airflow-Tempered-Glass/dp/B07MSQ63WS

Along with

Corsair Premium PCIe 3.0 x16 Extension Cable 300mm

https://www.amazon.co.uk/CORSAIR-Premium-Extension-Cable-300mm/dp/B07LGS7TD7

Along with some Corsair RGB LL (including the new white ones).

All shipped from Amazon.
I went with the Xigmatek Aquarius.
I also got a new cougar helor 360mm aio.

I opened the box and took a glance at it, it's perfect for me, I loved it.
Will install everything tomorrow.

Thread hijack!

I'm thinking of upgrading my main rig as well, I'll keep it simple:

What I'm planning to get:
  • Aorus z390 pro
  • i9-9000k.
  • HyperX 16 gb x 2 (32gb)
  • Samsung 970 pro nvme m.2 512gb
  • Kingston ssd 960gb
  • Probably a cougar panzer evo (or any other good enough chassis, may use old one for budget cut)
  • Seasonic prime 850 titanium (or any good enough psu), may use old one for budget cut
What I'll be doing:
  • GTAV/witcher 3/some other games on 1080p (i still have a gtx 970)
  • Fat ass .net solutions on visual studio 2017(sometimes up to 4 solutions running simultaneously)
  • node/npm on vscode(ui stuff)
  • SQL
  • MongoDB
  • Elasticsearch
  • One at least or maybe two virtual machines(linux) mostly for machine learning/data science in python/R
  • Mainstream stuff: browsing(lot of tabs), video, music, excel, word...
Thoughts?

@scorz the specs are great.
You didn't mention the gpu though!

Anyway,
i need all of your help regarding the fan and airflow configuration in my newly built rig.
I have the xigmatek aquarius case.
It has :
3x120mm bottom fan slots.
3x120mm top fan slots.
3x120mm side fans slots. (currently used by 360 aio)
2x80mm rear fan slots.

All fans are available, 2x80mm Arctic fans getting tomorrow.

So I need your help giving me the best fans and airflow config out of this case in order to have the best temps.

Currently, my i9-9900k is running 35-45 degrees on Idle whatever the clock is (3.6Ghz to 5Ghz).
