It a depends on distance mainly, i live in tarik l jdide and i expect such speed next month because the co is 2km away, anyway in 2 months(minister jarrah said) they will start with the cabinets to eliminate distance problems
xterm wroteWould anyone please summarise the changes that happened with the new plans alongside what all of this VDSL, Open Speed are; and most importantly how on earth are you getting them?

As of Sunday, i noticed my home internet (what was supposedly a 2Mbps plan) yield ~3.5Mbps and the work internet (what was supposedly a 4Mbps plan) yield ~6.5Mbps.

What have i missed?
New plans are released and they started applying them a a week ago, open speed is dependent on how much your line can handle (distance and noise and cable quality) ,vdsl can reach 70mb if you are very very close to the co speed goes down as long as you move farther, to a point when on 1km speeds will be similar to adsl2+

I understand that it has to do with the distance, but the problem is a week ago my speed tests were reading 10.5mb/s. Since that day it's been 6.8 mb/s. So I know my distance can handle more. That's what's confusing me.

Nearly all of lebanon's phone lines have decreased max speeds by 3-4mbps(same thing happening to me max rate went down from 14.5 to 11mb)

I hope they are not decreasing speeds due to network overload :(

well if so then expect much more speed decreases on Aug 1

I guess it's the noise added due to network heavy load, imad kreidieh said it himself and they're working on a fix

Most probably it is, because when i first called ogero they told me that my line can reach up to 15 mbps and to make sure they are making a feasibility study... few days later they told me the maximum i can reach is 6-8 mbps :/
This is very bad they should have prepared for this they had a lot of time to do it

Same, live in Hamra with IDM (for now)... at best it's reaching 10Mbps but that's at 5Am.

Was told to update cables, modem that supports VDSL/ADSL2, phone line, ethernet Cat6
(==> No clue who can do this, how to do it, and if it will even change a thing.
And hey, it might simply be because the upgrade is still in it's testing phase and they haven't done the correct infrastructure work for it to deliver the right speeds to everyone though Hamra (Banks, Hospitals, Universities, shops, etc.)

Anyone has a map or an idea where is the closest CO/Active Cabinet to Hamra?

I doubt our cables/modem are the issue. The fact that it's reaching 10mb/s at a certain time of day means our equipment can handle it. I'm fairly sure it's because the new plans are slowly rolling out to more people, which means more load. Unfortunately that could be the reality :(

Also our Central is in sa2yet Janzir.

Thanks about the info regarding the central (Though i suppose they must install one in Hamra soon. I will tweet Kreidie about this in a bit on twitter.

But if you (Or anyone who reads this) can help me a bit here, i would appreciate it:
What surprised was that a couple of Ogero ppl and some Lebgeeks/twitter ppl told me that my stats translate into possible good speed (in the range of 14 to 16Mbps if i update my cables and router/modem, i do believe that new hardware will improve (mine are 10 years old just when DSL was available, i don't have any options to switch to ADSL2 or ADSL2+ and so on).

IDM told me that i might not even reach 6 to 8Mbps tops because of my current location and cables/line no matter what i do.

Here are my line stats: can anyone translate them and tell me what speeds i can get or can't get because at this point i have no clue what to do except to wait for FTTH to become available :

your line is already synced at 14 mbps, IDM are idiots
Just an update.

For those of you who are experiencing higher pings (assuming you had interleaving off) and are now on Open Speed, I just spoke with an engineer from. ogero, apparently if you want your interleaving off, you need to go back to 4mb (or whatever plan you had prior to Open Speed).

I asked why, he said they don't currently have profiles build for open speed+interleaving off, so as a temporary solution, he has to revert me back to 4mbs in order for it to work.

Back to 4G gaming for me.

Well good to know that by next Month it will work. Thanks for the update.

Excuse my noobish question. But what are the benefits to tell them put interleaving off? Is it by default fastpath? If I'm understanding correctly, interleaving off is slower but better ping?
Interleaving basically stabilizes your connection at the cost of ping.

If you're a gamer, and have interleaving off, your latency will drop by a significant amount, about 30-40ms.

If you have a stable phone line, interleaving will not affect the stability of your connection, which is why its ON by default from Ogero's end.

Now im not entirely sure why Ogero is having a hard time turning it off for people with Open Speed plans, but they said they are working on a solution and Imad Kreidieh himself told me he is investing the issue.
TheLebGeek wroteIf I'm understanding correctly, interleaving off is slower but better ping?
Interleaving should not slow down your connection if your phone line is "clean", as in you have good attenuation. However, people with old phone lines/fuzzy phone lines actually need interleaving to be on in order to have a more stable connection.
So Ogero emailed me and told me they managed to give me Open Speed with interleaving off, im at a stable 6mb/s with 62 ms to European servers for gaming.

Honestly I think they just gave me 6 mb/s and disabled interleaving, its not REALLY open speed. I had about 11 mb/s when i had open speed, but id rather have lower ping than faster download.
