None of these issues are applicable to the OP. He simply wants to use Hola to purchase a single e-book from Amazon. He can then simply uninstall it.
If issues such as remote execution exploits are a concern to the OP, then he can use Tor instead. It will carry over some of the same issues, though, mainly that someone can use your Internet connection for malevolent purposes once you're a relay.
