  • How to use Thomson 585v6 as a wifi repeater?

xazbrat wroteThere are devices (ethernet over power, I think) where you can try to use your home's electrical system to spread your internet connection without a mess. I don't ever recall seeing them here, but then again, I haven't really been looking for them. They may be called powerline adapters. That may take care of your problem.

yess i've heard about them but never tried to use them
i found a good amount of reviews for these powerline adapters on youtube... check them
Unless I am mistaken, there are no WDS option in the Connect modem (I checked the interface), does it mean only AP/client routers like the tplink WR843 and repeaters can extend its wifi?

wds is optional in routers..

This is right:on the WR940:

-Enable Enable WDS Bridging
-Survey
-Choose the ssid we want to extend
-DHCP: Set the Gateway and primary DNS using the main router's ip
-Disable DHCP
-Set a static ip in LAN
-Set a static ip and subnet in WAN

Yep some steps more than on the WR843 which is a AP/client router

So I finally got the WR940n. I tried these but it looks like the DHCP of the connect modem is not taken on the tplink:
On the tplink:
-Wireless -> enable WDS -> Survey -> select the connect ssid -> put its password
-LAN -> set a new ip but from the connect modem pool
-restart
-The tplink settings are not accessible on the new ip, I had to use a static ip in Windows
-DHCP -> Disable
-DHCP -> Use the Connect's ip as subnet and primary DNS
-Restart
I still have to use a static ip on the laptop to access the tplink settings, no internet access
With my HTC phone, the connection will stuck on ''obtaining ip address''

So is it the Connect DHCP that is not reaching the tplink or there are something wrong or missing in my settings?
