NuclearVision wroteI think you're confusing belief and the truth itself. People make up stuff about religion, it is not necessarly true.
About science and religion, you said the fairy tales, it might sound right at a first glance, but in fact, there's a hidden entity, a being i'd say behind science, for instance, the existence of the universe it self, not its creation, and that entity in my opinion, is god.
Keep in mind that sciences and time it self are concepts made up by humans. It might sound irrational, but if no one is here to confirm, i'd say The first billion years in universe expansion (in our scale) was practically instant.
Remembers me of something: if a tree falls in the forest and there's no one there to hear it, does it still make a sound?
well, this is the type of philosophical argument that believers want to prevail.
Science is made by humans? if you mean the procedures conducted to provide assurance or to study certain phenomenon, yes humans created that. but they are only created a WAY to interpret things that surround us and the laws that governs us.
on the other side, religion can tell you anything. fairy tails, let's check it out. someone just walked on water, cool. he also resurrected the dead.....another one just flied to the 7th sky on a mule and he saw heaven....someone else just hit the ground with his stick and here we go, we have a pathway through the sea.......how about the flood that immersed the entire earth and the only creatures who stayed alive were the believers (from humans) and a couple of other creatures........and lets not forget that god in the old days used to strike the nasty non believers........I can go with this for the next 6000 years.
ain't that fairy tales! now, what would be fairy tales then!
this can never be compared to science.
science indeed has limitations, it always had. our ignorance to certain things stimulate our hungur for knowledge not to rest our minds and hand them to swindlers.
science has been always tearing apart the myths of religion by FACTS. I mean come on earth is a sphere isn't it?! religion admits that now, but what about the early ages (which was by the way closer to the source of religion).
