rolf wroteBe careful, political discourse is not very well tolerated on these forums.
I'm all for secular ideologies. I am not a believer, and think rational thought and science should have more place then religion. but of course people are free to practice religion, free though and expression.
I believe the root of problems that you are trying to solve runs deeper then that. I believe that religion is a tool in the hand of some people or groups, so one has to look behind that to understand more, maybe?
Because the forum is secular, which is why all the conversations are in good spirits !
I chose to start the discussion aware that it might be seen as unwelcome because usually technology aware people are educated and open-minded. I also believe that is kind of our duty, as educated folks, to not stand idle when we can actually do something.
Although I agree with you, it is too soon to talk about this in Lebanon. That's why we must not mix atheism and secularism, because if people see it as an atheistic idea, they would fear it and fight it aggressively.
It is interesting what you say. I often had the same feeling. As if there are even higher strings being pulled but we barely see them.

There's a new club called MES which stands for Mouvement De L'ESIB Solidaire. It's basically the same thing.
All of Lebanon needs this, not just in universities.
Nice, do they have a Facebook page ?
There are many ESIB students in the USJ Secular Club. In fact it has grown to be the more active non-political club in the university.
If you and/or any of your secular friends want to join they can contact the FB page.
I agree with your last point. It is ridiculous to think that people still judge and discriminate people because of "where they come from" and what they believe in.
