Hello, guys! I'm interested in computer security, but I'm pretty new to the topic. Anyone knows a good book to start with?

your best bet would be forum instead of books man.

and i would recommend starting with the network basics
Theres a course given on youtube called cryptography by christof paar teaches you all the basics.
I would say security is a very broad topic, it ranges from web coding security to network security to server's security

Which one do you want to start with?
CISSP : 6 hours exam .. still not passed :D
I think he want to learn and know how to protect he's own computer

very easy : disable your wireless card ( and bluetooth as well ) .. remove your network cable .. disable your CD . usb ports ,memory card , any extensions , etc and you should be safe ( i hope :P )

I've read some articles while back that there are backdoor to the disk hardware. So might need to get rid of the disk too.

But you need a way to reach the disk unless the software is coded before installation
Certificate with CompTIA Security+

Even an abacus can be hacked :P
Thank you all for your replies.

I'd say I'm very interested in all three, but mostly web coding security and cryptography, I guess, so to say(I'm going to start my reasearch soon because I don't really know how computer security branches out). And I'm doing this because I'm just really interested in computer security in general; protecting my own pc is just a byproduct of that and not the main reason.
IMHO,
if you want to know anything about a system you should know how it works.
Let's say you want to know web security, start learning first what's the HTTP protocol and how it works.
Cryptography is a bit complex. It's based somehow on mathematics. So I suggest you divide your work.
I can send you a pdf file that covers privacy, crime, and security in computer science if interested.
