Guys,
please i want your opinion
which one is better ?
It seems that the prices are very close.
I checked them online on microcity.
I don't find the e540 that frequently in shops , contrary to the g50.
Are the g50 replacing parts more easily available ??
or not ?
But i heard that thinkpads are much better than ideapads. Is that true ??
Thanks ironman
So i understand that the e series are generally more robust than g series
Yes according to them (Lenovo Forums) so this should be correct, But if the budget is not an issue, the most robust series is the Thinkpad T Series, they cost around 1.5K and a bit hard to find, check them on google.
I checked the prices again.
The E540 is more expensive than the g50 by 225 $.
Is it worth paying that additional amount for the thinkpads reputation & little difference in processors ( quadcore i7 4702 mq vs dual core i7 5500 u ) ??
My budget is no more than 1k
And i'll upgrade to ssd & add ram later
If the budget is an issue, get the G then...
Personally, i hate entry level laptops, but in the end it's a personal preference thing.

Good luck man.

If you have problem with sealed battery don't go with the E540.

I was puzzled between the E550 and the E540 but I went for the E550 because the E540 battery can't be easily removed.
My brother and my sister brought the G50.
When it comes to performance it's almost the same since the three machines use the same processor: i5-5200U, same ram: 4gb/1600MHZ, same HDD: 5400RPM.
The E550 has a slightly better GPU (R7-M265 vs R5-M230)

When it comes to built quality, of course the E550 is much better.
It's not as good as a T, but still better than a G. Keyboard better, mouse pad, more solid.

Both of laptop are very quiet and battery is good, the E550 lasted almost 6hours with wifi on + low brightness (Broadwell!) and heat is good. The first day I brought it, it was on for more than 12 hours and it stayed cool.

And finally,
The G50 looks more "user-friendly" while the ThinkPad looks more "geeky".

So it depends on your taste/budget!
