  • Confused on SAT scoring

I am aware that you get 200 points for basically doing nothing
But is this a 200 bonus point?
By bonus i mean if i got 400/800 on critical reading based only on my correct answers...
Doest that mean my final score is 600/800 on critical reading?
I don't know but I will just make a wild guess and say that you will get 200 if you didn't solve the exam or you scored lower than 200 , basically 200 is as lower as you can get but it will not get added to the 400 in the example you stated
I dont recall getting any bonus when i did my SAT
I'm looking forward to know more about the SAT as I'll be taking it this year as well.

So here goes my question, how much percentage does the American/English universities take under consideration the SAT vs School Grades?
If you get 400 it means you got 200 (200+200)
200 is for writing your name or something. They're not bonus points, they're actual points from the test, as if you've answering a regular question.
There is no bonus points in SAT/ even writing your name.

However if you do sign your name and dont answer any question you will get a score of 200, and that is due to the scoring sytem in SAT is complex and based on a specific formula im which it ensures that the lowest grade obtainable is 200.

so in short, whatever grade you acheive is based solely on you performance and has nothing to do with you writing your name properly.

Most universities take it as a 50/50 situation.
50% on your 10th and 11th grade scores
50% on SAT I

Yeah basically what I thought it would be.
Most universities require an SAT score of 1250 for engineering department, it this a score based of 2400 or 1600 ( Maths and Critical Reading only)?
Each section in SAT is scaled between 200 and 800. And when a university requires a score on SAT it's only Math and Critical Reading (over 1600) and the Writing section will decide which English course you start with. For example at AUB if you have below 480 on writing you start with English 102, if you have between 490 and 640 (or 630) you go to English 203, and if you have above that you start with the highest English course depending on your faculty.
