Actually AMD processors lack the single-core performance of Intel processors but make up for it by having more cores and higher clock speeds. So they're not equal in performance, in a game like Total War- which uses only two cores, a Pentium G3258 outperforms an FX-6300 but in a game which makes use of every core available that same Pentium has lower performance than a 6300.
Bottom line: Not All Processors are Created Equal
