FTTH is not coming anytime soon to the general population!
Not according to the Ogero personnel i talked with last Monday (1515)
I specifically asked him about it and he said " It is a matter of months for FTTH to reach the general population"
Give'em a call tomorrow and check for yourself
(There's always the possibility that he miss informed me... can't get a straight answer in this country from anyone)
maybe he meant fttc, because imad kreidieh said that ftth will be there late 2018 for select areas "class areas ==D"
It would make sense Ahmad. (Not the "class area" areas part, that's just fucked up to even think about)
But if that's the case, a change in modem/router is eminent for me.
I think this old speedtouch might not be handling the upgrade the way it's supposed to.
IDM told me in the email that
- if my telephone line are up to date (They are, changed everything 2 years ago)
- if i am not too far from the central (Wish i am not, their's is in Hamra according to what they wrote in the email)
- if my modem/router are good and the wiring/filter in the home are also good quality
I should be receiving really good connection once the upgrade happens.
I'm getting this now:
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 16,0 / 35,0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 14,0 / 8,0
They asked me to wait till next week.
Though once i compare them with what i'm reading on forums about SNR/Attenuation... not as good as IDM are portraying it.
