Devil's advocate here: Do I really own the games if I buy them? Are they really my property or do I just have a legal license to play them? What if you never play a game you have to pay for? Would that still mean you're taking money away from the developers if you can download an illegal copy?
Depends on the licensing terms of the software. And why would you buy a game that you'll never play?
Maybe my question wasn't clear enough, sorry. You brought up the fact that the developers need the money we pay so they can feed their kids and all. That's fine. But my question is this: Let's say I never would have bought the game if I had to pay for it. But here's an opportunity for me to download it so I do. Am I really stealing if I never would have paid for it anyway? In other words, I'm not really saving any money by downloading it because I was never going to buy it in the first place. So am I stealing?
Very good point. Yes it is. If you steal something you never were going to buy it would be still stealing.
Right it right, wrong is wrong. Even if everyone is doing it, even if no one gets hurts. Wrong will still be wrong.
