I wanna upgrade my current monitor into something better. But I have no clue which monitor creator is best (HP/Samsung/Dell/Asus, you name it)
I also dunno where to buy one from here in Lebanon.

So:
1. Which monitor do you recommend?
2. Where can I buy it from in Lebanon?
1- Any IPS Screen that's 1080P. LG's got a few good ones
2- Anywhere. You can buy it from LG Lebanon facing City Mall in Dora.
Any particular model you'd recommend? I spend my time between terminal, vim and chrome btw.
I connect it to my mac via vga.

Also, any idea where I can sell my old monitor?
1-is there any kind of budget?
2-what was the size of your previous monitor?
1. max 400$
2. 19' (LG Flatron W1934S)

For that money you could buy a Qnix QX2710 2560x1440 PLS monitor from Korea on eBay and have it shipped here and pay customs.
I bought an HP 23xi three months ago, no regrets whatsoever highly recommend it.

i Agree, 27 inch with only 1080p is not the most pleasant experience, go for 1440p from ebay if you can.
LG 23EA53V-P Wide 23" LED IPS Full HD

its $169 at pcandparts
I think in today's standards a 23inch is small

Nonsense, there is no today's standards when it comes to screen just personal preference.
@PowerPC and @yasamoka
How long will it take to ship the Qnix QX2710 ? Did you try it yourselves?
Oh and how much will customs cost?
Took 6 days for me. Paid $70 for customs.
Oh and one last question regarding the 27" QNIX QX2710.. does it work with a macbook?
The multi-input model comes with dual-link DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort, and doesn't overclock beyond 60Hz (it skips frames). The single-input model comes with only dual-link DVI and overclocks to 96-120Hz (and more). I have mine at 110Hz with the stock cable. If your MacBook has a DisplayPort, then the multi-input model will work. If you have a DP to dual-link DVI adapter, the single-input model will work but your overclock will be limited to about 80Hz (or less, depending on the adapter) topping out based on the pixel clock such an active adapter tops out at.

If you want to go for the multi-input model, there are some other monitors which might be better, such as the CrossOver 2735AMG / 2755AMG, which are tempered glass with "Plasma Deposition Coating" that allegedly reduces glare but still cannot avoid the black level becoming higher (worse) when there is glare (IIRC - NCX's review on the net for this monitor might come in handy).

Matte coating is popular for the Qnix; The Qnix QX2710 (and the equivalent X-Star DP2710 - they are the same) is the only matte Korean monitor. Glossy is less commonly found being sold, and tempered glass might have either a matte or a glossy panel underneath (should ask the Korean sellers and read well into their English, asking further questions if necessary).
In order to have a dual-link DVI work on a mac, I need to get this adapter (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB571Z/A/mini-displayport-to-dual-link-dvi-adapter?fnode=51) which I don't have and will cost me prob around 120$ in lebanon.
So, I'll pay 400$ to ship the Qnix. 70$ on the customs. 120$ for the adapter.
That's roughly 600$ for a monitor!!

Now, a friend of mine told me he got the Samsung LS27C750 from City Center here in beirut for 400$
I only play LOL but i spend most of my time in terminal / Vim / Chrome (aka programming) So i'm not that high on amazing sexy pixels. I care to have good looking text, cuz that's what I look at all the time lol.

So my question is, would that Samsung screen be worth it? The only difference with the Qnix is basically a lower resolution (1900 instead of 2500)

No need for an adapter if you go for that model.

No. That's ~$300-330 for the Qnix (you can make an offer for $300), let's assume $70 on the customs. That's roughly $370-$400 on a 2560x1440 PLS 27" monitor. If you need good looking text, a higher resolution is it.

The Samsung is 1080p and an MVA panel. MVA has better blacks but has color shift at extreme angles (probably not an issue - Qnix has glow at extreme edges like all IPS generally).

1920x1080 on 27" doesn't look so good. I went from 23.6" 1080p to 27" 1440p and it's a massive difference. It's a 77.77% higher resolution.
