kfc wroteI got the G2 few days ago. I didn’t have yet the opportunity to explore it in fully but here are my primary impressions:
(etc...)
Please I would appreciate if you can help me address those cam problems. How come most reviews say the G2 cam is impressive? Is my cam defective? Thanks!
"Mabrouk" and enjoy your phone as much as you can!
1-Agree.
2-Agree. About the waves I think it's a software issue with the Camera not the screen itself.
3-Agree.
4-Well I surprisingly loved the status bar since it's the closest to vanilla android status bar before kitkat (blue).
5-Agree.
6-No it's not missing. In mobile networks (where you check your mobile consumption) you can press menu button to show wifi consumption.
7-It's an amazing library indeed. If you have the original remote control, you can make your G2 learn from them. THAT is an amazing feature. Search the web for more help. I didn't need it since I have samsung TV.
8-Agree camera is not the best:
a-Yes very slow
b-Dunno! I find it acceptable!
c-Believe it or not I did not meet such condition yet.
d-Never noticed.
e-You can touch focus but not capture. I have yet to find any phone that does that besides Sony.
f-I think that is the issue in all cameras I have used (in cell phones of course).
In camera department, no one beats Sony and obviously Nokia.
Overall I am satisfied with the camera since I'm not that demanding.
I suggest you root your phone and install Xposed framework and install minimum 2 modules that are specifically designed for our G2:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tinyroar.xposedlgg2
and
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.ptoti.g2_tweaksbox
Those will give you wonderful modifications such as notification bar, navigation soft buttons, call recording, notification settings and many others.
I use the recent button instead of menu button on screen for instance. And I reduce navigation buttons area to half of its height since it takes a lot of screen estate.
You can also always try custom roms (you will need custom recovery, I always recommend CWM).
Also on XDA there's some modified stock cameras which claim to present better experience.
