Ok so here goes my review of LG G2. I already know it will be long but That's because that's how I like reviews to be!
The whole post is done on my LG G2! :-)

1-Background
I'm coming from a LG nexus 4!
Why change it!?
I adore the feel and smoothness of vanilla android but lately I started to feel bored! It's quasi-featureless, although cyanogenmod and paranoid android fix that partially!
Besides the relatively poor battery life and camera as well as low storage and small screen made me make up mind!
Why G2!?
I loved LG nexus 4 much more than my old Samsung galaxy nexus! LG made a better job in my opinion! I loved the build quality and the feel, I hated amoled screens, I hated touchwiz, I wanted the biggest screen possible while still being able to use it single-handed, I wanted big battery and good storage!
I also felt tired of all this rom/kernel flashing! I couldn't really enjoy my phone! So I wanted something that works very well out of the box without the need to constantly flashing and modding!
What fits all that!?
Definitely a 32GB LG G2!

2-General thoughts
In general I like this phone a lot! The design is smart and distinctive! I like the back buttons! The phone feels good in hand with a great size and weight! Feels sturdy! BUT beware! This phone is extremely vulnerable to drops being nearly besel-less! See androidauthority's drop test! I used the phone naked for like 2min and directly installed the cover! I don't need sdcards or removable battery since it's more than enough!

3-what I like
-screen is amazing! Great color reproduction although they tried to make it amoled-like but it's still less saturated and whites look better! Size is wonderful while still being pocket and single-hand friendly!
-i like soft buttons although they use screen estate but navigation is much faster and feels more natural! Once rooted . Removed these completely and now I'm using something like Pie (LMT launcher from Xda)
-battery life is great! It gets better once removing bloatware and installing greenify and greenifying apps like Facebook and others! For example I'm now 4 hrs on battery, screen on for 1h:25min, music play for 10min, autosync always on as well as gps and I'm still on 84%! I just love it!
-knock on
-fast charging (around 1.5h to fully charge)
-customizable launcher which allows themes and icons change!
-Guest mode
-this one is awesome, I can't think about it without smiling: if you are owning any app and you get a phone call, it will not leave the app but rather it will display a small undisturbing dialogue box on top of the screen from where you can either ignore, close, answer or mute!
This is awesome especially when playing full screen games! I used go crazy when getting a phone call during playing fun run or perfect kick because it quits the game and make me lose the game! Now no more!
-performance is great! Especially in heavy tasks relatively to nexus 4! The phone definitely gets hot during heavy usage like any other high end smartphone but not to an annoying level!
-still camera is great! Definitely better than any nexus camera!
-android development on xda is relatively good! Also porting nexus 5 roms is relatively easy!
-LTE
-USB OTG
-the fact that I changed dpi without breaking any single LG app except camera unlike touchwiz where most apps appearance would be messed up!
Using Xposed framework and app settings module can fix this!
-G2 settings (xposed module in play store) gives some nice improvements!
-quick memo is a very nice way to take screenshots and annotate term!
-default LG apps are really customizable and quick remote is nice!
-miracast: from my nexus 4 i couldn't mirror my screen on my Samsung smart tv as i was able on my wife's s2! Now i can!
-can switch to old good list view in settings instead of tabs view

4-what I dislike
-qslide is nice but without being able to run every app in that mode it will be nearly useless!
-sound level is a little bit on the low side! Not as loud as the nexus 4!
-surprisingly automatic brightness is kind of annoying! It takes relatively long time to respond and transition is slow and not smooth! What I mean is that it looks like if the screen is kind of flickering even when increasing or decreasing!
It's not a deal breaker and I can easily live with it! Also 3rd party apps like lux (forgot the whole name) can easily fix this!
-as every non-nexus android phone there are some stuttering and slowness here and there!
Also it's not that frequent and I can live with it!
-unfortunately once in a while LG launcher might refresh/restart kind of the same way old htc sense did! When it happens it's kind of annoying but it doesn't happen frequently!
I'm trying to study the causes although I already bought nova launcher and any other 3rd party launcher will solve this issue!
-video recording and hence video watching is pretty annoying due to the breathing effect (continuous trial to autofocus) even if you and the object you are shooting are stand still! So each like 5sec tries to autofocus!
Of course a software update can fix this!
-LG official updates will surely be rare! Very rare!
However i can't really find a useful feature that I miss now from my nexus 4 4.3 android!
-no spell checker!!! WTF Lg and samsung! Both omitted this from vanilla android which was maybe the most feature I used when typing! So now excuse me if I have any mistakes :-P
If someone didn't get me, I mean that red zigzag line that shows under wrongly spelled words and the ability to simply click on it and choose the right word between suggestions!

Finally battery update: I'm now on 5h:20min on battery and 2h;40min screen on and I'm on 67%! Still stock but only rooted!

Cheers!
Thanks a lot for the feedback :)

What bloatware did you remove and is it easy for a regular non-geek person to remove them?
There's practically no bloatware in international version we have (D802) but what I meant is removing anything you don't want/need that either uses Ram or battery or both! That is of course without affecting the stability!
I removed like lg notebook, lg backup, lg stock browser, lg lifestream, lg tasks etc...
You just have to root to be able to remove these! Once you want to pm me and I'll give you the link in xda! It's very easy!
Once rooted you can simply rename the app (.apk) to for example .apk1 and the system will simply not read it or uninstall it!
After re-reading your feedback calmly, I have some questions if you don't mind: (sorry if some of them appear stupid or amateurish but i am not really a smartphone geek)

1- Build and design:
- Do you think that a flip cover that protects the screen and the back is a must? I usually hate covers and if really needed, i prefer a strict back cover... Do you think i can find shatter-proof screen protectors in Lebanon?

2- Performance:
- I know it is not 100% as smooth as the nexus phones, but is the different significant? Do you constantly feel the difference?

3- Software:
- I read on the net that the user interface is almost a copy/paste of Samsung's touchwiz. Is it true? Is it as ugly or better?
- As I saw in preview videos, the icons seem ugly. Can you change their shape/color without installing a different launcher?
- You said that you deleted soft touches but I didn't understand exactly what you are using instead? Can you use an android phone without the home, menu and back buttons (whether hard or soft)?
- Can you please clarify this: "G2 settings (xposed module in play store) gives some nice improvements!"? What is the difference between G2 settings and the xposed module?
- What advantages does the paid version of "Nova launcher" bring compared to the free one?

4- Camera
- Is it possible to "touch-capture" photos" ? (capturing photos by just touching any area of the screen)?
- Is it practical to capture photos using the back button?
- Is it possible to totally mute the camera's shutter?
- Are pictures taken indoor in artificial or low light (WITHOUT flash) generally noisy? Is their quality good if you open those pics in full resolution on a computer or are they full of noise and grains?
- Is the digital zoom of the camera good?

5- Sound
- Is the sound level low to the point of making you miss calls or not properly hear songs or movies or the phone's speaker if you are alone? or if some people are talking around you?

6-Radio
- Does it have FM radio built in?
- If yes, do you have to plug in the earpieces to be able to listen to it?

THANKS SO MUCH!
1- a flip cover is not a must in my opinion! I hate it too! I got a back cover only!
I really do know nothing about accessories in Lebanon coz i bought what i need from USA.
2-i kind of constantly feel the difference but It's minim! ANY non-nexus phone is less smooth (and i don't say slower but less smooth) than ANY nexus phone. That's what my long experience with android devices taught me.
3- It's way better than touchwiz. BTW touchwiz is a copy of LG UI and not the opposite. Make some thorough search and you will see.
-Yes LG is the only stock launcher that allows you to change the icons
- i deleted buttons means i made them simply hidden. Search for "GMD auto hide soft keys"
- g2 settings is a xposed module. Search for" Xposed framework" and read about it and its modules.
- it gives you ability to simply resize icons and for more gestures and others.
4-yes
- never tried it
- yes
- acceptable photos indoor but yes they are kind of noisy and grainy
- acceptable but it's not a lumia after all
5-i rarely miss calls! I can listen to music and videos normally but I'll have to raise the volume all the way if it's a noisy environment. There are many mods on xda for sound. Quality is acceptable.
6-yes
- yes

Welcome!
Did you get the 16 or 32gb?
I am desperate to find a 32gb in Lebanon

Welcome!
but is a back cover enough to protect the screen from shattering in case of falls?

and regarding noise in cam pics in indoor situations, i read that the pics have very little noise but at the expense of good details. do i understand from you that it isn't really true?

did you ask at CLASS?
Yep,they though they had the 32gb but when operating the demo model it was 16gb
vegetaleb wroteYep,they though they had the 32gb but when operating the demo model it was 16gb
lol they dont even know what model they have??

at what price are they selling the 16 GB model?
vegetaleb wroteI think I heard 630$
with the shop's warranty or LG's?
When I saw it's 16gb only I stopped asking anything.
I just called LG Lebanon, they have the 16gb at 670$ included original cover, they don't have and they will not have the 32gb period.
Only external channels importing from Asia or Europe can get 32gb, ME versions are all 16gb.
Make you wonder why samsung is still n1 in Lebanon eh!
Tried 3 different HTC One yesterday at gomobile and the 3 of them were having camera purple tint problem, all their phones are very old (june and july), I wonder if te7rib One are much newer and so with fixed camera...
I don't want to return to S4 but it looks like I am ''obliged'' because of incompetent woukala

Try the nexus 5 32GB if you are willing to pay 700+. A software update is coming soon for its camera

Anyway it seems that it is hard to “tharrib” LG products as even stars doesn’t have non nexus LG phones
Yeah we have only Z1,S4/Note3 and One as Android flaships.
N5 are way too expensive when you know the American price and G2 is limited to 16gb
a month later
I got the G2 few days ago. I didn’t have yet the opportunity to explore it in fully but here are my primary impressions:

1- I love the design, especially the slim bezels and rear buttons (much better than side buttons!!!)
2- Screen is beautiful! But I am afraid that mine is defective because I noticed a few times “waves” crossing the screen especially when the camera is open…
3- The phone is very fast but you can feel minor lags every now and then…
4- User interface is a mixed bag. I like the soft buttons (I wish they could stay transparent on all screens, not just on the home screen), I also like the clear and nice presentation of the settings. But the status bar is VERY ugly, same for the icons (and the proposed alternatives are uglier!)
5- Knockon is great!
6- How can I check the Megabytes consumption on the WIFI consumption? Is this option missing?
7- All imaginable and unimaginable brands of tvs and airconditioners are listed in the Quick Remote app except the ones I have (Dicon TV and mitsubishi AC)!!! :@
8- The BIG disappointment so far is the camera! Although the web is full of praises for the G2 cam , things don’t look good for me. I tested the cam in indoor settings and found that it wasn’t significantly better than a midrange Sony Phone I used for a while. Here are some problems I faced:
a. Focus is slow!
b. Except for the area covered by the 9 focus squares, focus is poor in other areas and pics are almost always blurred in those areas.
c. It is almost impossible to take pics of moving persons or object without obtaining blur, even when using Sport or burst mode!
d. Too much over-processing that hinders details!
e. I can’t touch capture and the cam doesn’t automatically capture after auto-focusing as in Sony phones.
f. Color reproduction isn't always accurate. Human skin for example often appears light-colored...

Please I would appreciate if you can help me address those cam problems. How come most reviews say the G2 cam is impressive? Is my cam defective? Thanks!

"Mabrouk" and enjoy your phone as much as you can!
1-Agree.
2-Agree. About the waves I think it's a software issue with the Camera not the screen itself.
3-Agree.
4-Well I surprisingly loved the status bar since it's the closest to vanilla android status bar before kitkat (blue).
5-Agree.
6-No it's not missing. In mobile networks (where you check your mobile consumption) you can press menu button to show wifi consumption.
7-It's an amazing library indeed. If you have the original remote control, you can make your G2 learn from them. THAT is an amazing feature. Search the web for more help. I didn't need it since I have samsung TV.
8-Agree camera is not the best:
a-Yes very slow
b-Dunno! I find it acceptable!
c-Believe it or not I did not meet such condition yet.
d-Never noticed.
e-You can touch focus but not capture. I have yet to find any phone that does that besides Sony.
f-I think that is the issue in all cameras I have used (in cell phones of course).
In camera department, no one beats Sony and obviously Nokia.

Overall I am satisfied with the camera since I'm not that demanding.

I suggest you root your phone and install Xposed framework and install minimum 2 modules that are specifically designed for our G2:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tinyroar.xposedlgg2
and
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.ptoti.g2_tweaksbox

Those will give you wonderful modifications such as notification bar, navigation soft buttons, call recording, notification settings and many others.
I use the recent button instead of menu button on screen for instance. And I reduce navigation buttons area to half of its height since it takes a lot of screen estate.

You can also always try custom roms (you will need custom recovery, I always recommend CWM).
Also on XDA there's some modified stock cameras which claim to present better experience.

Good luck!
2- I will check this issue with LG. I am under warranty
3- Check how ugly this looks! http://s28.postimg.org/5f4ekoxpp/2014_01_07_18_39_47.jpg I can’t understand for example why the font size of the battery indicator is different than that of the time! In comparison, the sony skin is more “mrattabeh”! http://s24.postimg.org/44rj1dsx1/Screenshot_2014_01_07_18_37_50.jpg
7- how can I “make my G2 learn from the original remote control? I didn’t find anything about that on the web!
8-but 90% of reviews put it above the iphone 5 and S4 and at least on par with the iphone 5s, note 3 and z1! There is something odd in this!
b. Check this pic. http://s28.postimg.org/v207otigd/CAM00346.jpg The upper part of the text is focused on. See how the lower part of the text is blurred. Now check this pic. http://s7.postimg.org/6abd5680b/CAM00345.jpg The lower part of the text is focused on. See how the upper part of the text is blurred! What is the solution?
c. I am unable to take a proper pic of my cousin’s kid, even when he is sitting and only moving his head or hands!
d. Try to open the indoor pics in full resolution on a pc and you will see what I mean!
Do you think that using third party camera apps like Camera360 or HDR+ can help ? And will the release of android 4.4.2 update help improve the pics quality or the enhancement is limited to nexus devices?

As for the rooting: I don’t know how to root and I am afraid of messing up the phone + I will lose the warranty. So rooting is not an option to consider unless it can bring BIG improvements to the camera.
Last I noticed that the battery is good so far (but not really great). It lasts me a day or a bit more on moderate use and android OS and android system are toping the consumption chart with 27% and 25% respectively. Is this normal?
3-Yes in this matter I agree with you.
7-From within quick remote press menu button (top right) and then select "Learn remote". I guess the rest will be a step by step procedure.
8- I am not a photography geek or experienced guy. I barely take photos in normal mode all the time.
b- I cannot see anything wrong with those 2 pics. It depends where the focus is. The paper is placed in a way that the nearest words are at the bottom of the paper and the far on top.
c-That's really sad. That thing has a OIS and should take much much better photos of moving objects.

I think yes software update to 4.4 should bring some improvements to the cam. 4.4.1 and 4.4.1 were only addressed to nexus 5 to improve its cam. So I think those are useless for us.

I dunno really what BIG improvements are for you but I've read that the focus speed has slightly improved, quality of pics and jpeg compression is minimized so better pictures, etc...
In the 2 XDA links that I sent you, you can read the changelogs of the modifications done to the cam.
Also I think there's an OTA update that you can make. Check it in settings/about.
I got it but I wasn't able to flash it since I was rooted.

As for battery I can say that it's amazing. It's even better than note 3 battery. Yes standby consumption is a bit high.
Android OS and Android system topping the consumption chart is NOT normal UNLESS you barely use your phone in a way that screen usage is very low.
I can get up to 4 or 5hrs screen on in a normal working day (3G) and up to 6 or even 7hrs screen on at my house (Wifi).
There's something probably eating your battery.
(Since you are not rooted I can only guess. Using "wakelock detector" or similar apps needs root access.)
Turn OFF google now if it's on, turn off locations if you don't really need it and also GPS, NFC, Bluetooth in case you don't really need them. Google now drinks battery.
Check if there's something always running in background.
For me it's always screen on top with around 40 to 60%.
New flagships are coming in ending February (S5 and One+)
Also LG Lebanon doesn't like 32gb memory,it's too much advanced for our country lol
