Well, searching is still in progress up till now . But can you at least give me a "brief" opinion? Just to know what you think , please
yasamoka
I don't want to cause bias. I'll let you know what I think after you look up some more.

Continued my research. Saw some interesting stuff. It is tougher than the GTX 680 of course, but the 7970 Ghz Edition can slightly beat it IF the Asus one hasn't been fully " GPU tweaked" ( overclocked LOL ) according to hardocp.com. A very strong card indeed. Also saw some accurate numbers for overclocking. Dammit this card can go high! And I likey it, plus it goes cooler than the 680 and 7970, being more power efficient. ( also according to hardocp.com)

Have you considered how it fares relative to the 7970 GHz when THAT one is overclocked ?
I really hope you're overclocking.

Yeah IF I get the Asus, and ONLY IF, I will overclock for sure, but still you haven't given me the expert's opinion :( Do you have the 7970 GHZ edition or the "normal one" ?
yasamoka
I have both. Will fill you in later on in the day.

Okay, Made up my mind.
Going for the Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 3 GB with Boost For 535$ ( with shipping , VAT , everything= Final price)
And a MSI Z77A GD65 Motherboard for 235$ from PcandParts.com ( + VAT and Everything)
yasamoka
Curious, why did you choose the HD7970 over the GTX770?
If you're ordering CPU + Mobo from here, that's a good motherboard choice.
If you're considering ordering from outside, 4770K + Z87A-GD65 is the same but 4th gen of what you chose. LGA1155 is mostly dead but performance in gaming is pretty much the same anyways.
MMM1999
Well, you "lafatet" my vision to something that I wasn't comparing an OC'ed HD7970 to an OC'd GTX 770. After viewing the FULL overclocking potentials of both cards, taking into consideration the price and everything, I had to go with the 7970. Plus, that additional GB or VRAM over the GTX 770 can make a difference. That was what made my mind.
What do you mean by " LGA 115 is mostly dead"?
BTW: The 7970 is the Dual X version not the GHz version
yasamoka
All new 7970s are GHz Editions, don't worry about that.
Even if they're not, I've had better luck overclocking my non-GHz 7970 so it's all luck of the draw.
Back in June I was worried about this before I had any 7970, and now I have the answer. These GHz Edition GPUs are not really binned, it seems.
It always felt like the first adopters of the 7970 were able to overclock higher than the newer buyers, but I can't be so sure.
And yes, I'd have gone 7970 as well. There are 4GB GTX770s but it doesn't really matter much, they'd run out of GPU power before they hit that most probably. Plus the 7970 still remains faster.
LGA1155 (Ivy Bridge, 3xxx) has been replaced with the LGA1150 (Haswell, 4xxx) socket. Not that it matters much, but that's the Intel is doing things these days. They make a socket, take off a few pins, kill it (LGA1156 -> LGA1155 -> LGA1150). It really doesn't feel like they HAVE to change sockets but heck, they do it anyway. If we ever end up with LGA1149 in a couple of years, I'll be sending hate-mail to Intel's CEO.
You'll see performance in gaming is about identical. The 4770K has advantages in rendering, applications that support the new instruction set that comes with Haswell (whatever it was called), and consumes less power. Also, the chipset is newer. Maybe not much new features in those Z87 boards vs. Z77, but worth checking out to see what you're getting into / missing out on.

Hey Guys,
is a Corsair HX750 enough for my rig? I'm not going Crossfire, and I ain't willing to. ( I generally ain't friends with the multi GPU idea yet.)
This is initially my rig:
CPU: i7 3770 Processer
Case: Cooler Master CM Storm Storm Trooper
RAM: G.Skill Sniper 2*4GB RAM Low Voltage
MotherBoard: MSI Z77 GD65 Gaming Motherboard
GFX Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 Dual X
Hard Drive: Seagate 7200RPM 64 MB Cache Hard Drive
So is 750W enough?
( I will add an SSD soon after I buy the rig)
maulader
If you're confident that you will not be going crossfire in the future, then 750w is way overkill.
MMM1999
THnx Maulader for your opinion :) .
Checked the asus power supply wattage calculator. My recommended was 650-700 W , so I think 750W is fine I guess?
@Yasamoka, You told me previously that you bought the XFX Pro 750W XXX Edition from CompuWorld for 115$ I think? Could you give me a quick review of it? ( Concerning noise, Durability, Effiency since it is a silver)

How did you get that? i just tried your specs in that calculator and it showed 450W which is what i originally thought your pc will need. An XFX550W should be more then enough with some headroom.
PS: The previous suggestions of you getting a 750-850W was in case you ever went with 2 cards.

Really? Oopsies.. Guess I'll try again
EDIT: Ah okay tried the eXTreme Power Wattage Calculator, and got 450W. So 750W should be good. Thanks Maulader ;)

I'll tell you how multi-GPU goes with AMD releasing their new frame-pacing driver tomorrow. But yeah, stick with single GPU unless you're willing to tinker sometimes or put up with a game or two not scaling (or using a high resolution, higher than 1080p or so).
The 750W offers headroom in case you ever decide to upgrade later on. The price difference between 650W and 750W is usually not much, and going for 550W would eliminate any chance of you going for multi-GPU in the future.

EDIT: Changed the case for the MIGHTY Rosewill Thor V2!
yasamoka
Where will you find such a case?
MMM1999
yasamoka wroteWhere will you find such a case?
I told you before, Shipping . It'll be 200$ final price.( I mean with the shipping and everything)
yasamoka
He can ship a case for that same fee? Give me his number please!
