Hello guys,

i have a DX58SO Intel motherboard, and i would like to buy an SSD for the OS only (120GB should be enough for windows 7)
and i have checked pc and parts and they have a long list of SSD's especially Kingston Ones,

which one do you recommend?
and as i think i would need the enclosure (2.5" to 3.5") which costs around 20$.
A final question is that my motherboard doesnt support SATA 3, only SATA 2, which is 3GB/S, is the upgrade worth it?

Thank you.
Everyone should have an SSD. It's great! No need for an adapter necessarily, nowadays even cheap cases like my Thermaltake V3 ($50 case) have 2.5" HDD mounts.

S-ATA 3 drives are backwards compatible with S-ATA 2. They work as S-ATA 2 instead of 3 though.

If you have an HDD and no SSD, defiantly go for it. There are videos all over the net comparing SSD's against HDD's.

Here's are a few images giving you an idea of how much an SSD is faster than an HDD:

Let me put it this way, an SSD is the best upgrade you can buy. Especially on a laptop.

I have an intel 180GB for laptop and a few-years-old crucial 64GB for desktop. Both still working just fine. Intel are known for their durability and not massive speed. They might be a bit more expensive than other brands.

Sata 3 is best but you'll still notice the difference with Sata 2(had the same problem). Your write speeds will suffer the most but it will still be faster than an HDD.

Definitely. A couple of years ago I swapped the optical drive with a Corsair F120 on my laptop (that does not support SATA 3). The perceived performance change was significant. The benchmarks are there to support this.
Thank you guys :),

i already got this
Kingston HyperX 3K SH103S3B/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (Upgrade Bundle Kit)

i'll install it and give you the results.

Even installing Windows will be faster..
SSDs literally kick ass. If you have spare money and want to do some system upgrading, an SSD would be the best option. And if you have a Z77 chipset and perform system backups, go for 2 SSDs in RAID 0. Believe me, your system will fly (if you have Windows you won't even notice the loading screen logo). Just do it!

Mega important note: I do not recommend the Kingston SSDnow series; they won't perform as fast as you expect. They are still faster than any HDD, but there are much better alternatives. The HyperX 3K series is much faster; and the HyperX series is the best (note that the HyperX is better than HyperX 3K).

I have it on my rig .. its a great ssd one of the best .. I also have an Intel 550 Series and a Sandisk 120Gb I think the HyperX is just as good as the others even better ..
