You payed HOW MUCH ?!?
I payed aprox $1000 3 years ago, my system was
Core i3 540
Intel DH55HC
Asus Direct CU II GTX 560Ti
InWin COM IRP 750W PSU
1TB Caviar Black HDD
Thermaltake V3
6GB DDR3 RAM
You have payed wayyy too much. And I'm guessing you bought it from a shop.
Also for the record..
Please, oh PLEASE!!! Stop calling it VGA!
This is a VGA:
This is a G-R-A-P-H-I-C-S C-A-R-D (NOT a VGA)
The term VGA was used when the only interface was VGA, so people used to call it VGA Cards. But VGA is so obsolete, graphics cards aren't even coming with them anymore. So saying VGA is just plain wrong. It's the name of the port and not the card.
Second, no such thing as a Duo Core. There's Core2Duo, Dual Core (Old name), Pentium (New name)
$170 for a graphics card is very low. In my opinion you should at the very least, spend $250 for a graphics card for gaming. Heck, even those are weak. What I recommend is spending $350 on it.
The less you spend on a system, the sooner you will upgrade.
There are some people who use their game rigs for up to 5 or even 8 years!
Also, the motherboard does count, but the only thing you'd have to upgrade on the motherboard is the RAM. So, if you have an H61 board with just 2 DIMM slots, you can use 2x8GB RAM = 16GB which is too much already.
You shouldn't trust anyone in stores trying to educate you with computer knowledge. They don't try to be right. They just start talking in gibberish just to get you out of their face. :D
