hello guys ... i got an iphone 4s as a gift from my friend who lives in australia and it is locked to an australian network operator ... when i tied my sim card in it , it said ''invalid sim card'' ... i just want to ask if the apple store in ABC dbayyeh is able to unlock it for me and how much does it cost ? thank you so much

You can request unlock online for 150 bucks. I can't assure it'll work, do it at your own risk, i have always hated internet based unlocks.

Your only option is to buy a Gevey sim ultra s. it costs like 30$ but it does work indeed.

download the ios 5 ipsw (google it)
then download redsn0w, open it, select ipsw manually (locate the ipsw you downloaded), then mark " downgrade ipad baseband" or any option concerning baseband downgrade, and check " install cydia" and follow the instructions carefully on how to enter DFU mode, after doing this, go to cydia, download a package called ultrasn0w ( make sure it is 0 not o) install it, and reboot, and congratulations :) it is all for free too

Only works for 3GS...khalil13 wroteman unlock it by yourself!

Then he could use SAM which can unlock any iphone, but the problem is that it can only unlock the sim once, correct me if i am wrong

SAM isn't working anymore it did work for around 2 weeks only
there is no free way to open your 4g or 4s iPhone anymore only 2 methods gevey (for only some basebands ) and factory unlock solution witch is the best because you can upgrade your phone anytime to the new version with out worrying to preserve the baseband anymore

i went to the ABC yesterday and they said they can't ... but there is a shop near where i live and the guy told me that he can do it for only 60$ ... i will see if it will work ... finger crossed !

For that carrier it should cost you around 50$ -70$ depend on the shop so 60$ is a good price and yes 100% it will work don't worry about that just give him the IMEI Number and after he tells you that the phone is unlocked you just need to restore it using iTunes and the phone will be factory unlocked

connect your phone let it detect your IOS and click on jailbreak it will install cydia and all needed add ons to unlock ur carrier as well as you wont lose your certs and the push notification will still work. SAM is still working btw for those who said its not you only need to make sure you configured it correctly.

1. Check which carrier does it belong to, by:
a. Dial *#06#
b. Copy this 15 digit number (called IMEI )
c. Check which carrier does your iphone belong to by using this site cutyoursim.com ---> iPhone Network Finder/Carrier Detector (costs around 8$.. time: max. 24 hours)
2. Unlocking your iPhone (making it factory unlocked)
a. Go to www.cutyoursim.com ---> Remote Unlock Service for iPhone 4S
b. Put in your carrier and IMEI code... (dont mess up with the IMEI or they will not refund your money)
c. Pay them according to your carrier (each carrier has a specific price)
d. wait till they unlock it.. it might take around a week to get it unlocked (after they unlock your IMEI, they ll send a message to your email...after that all you have to do is connect it to itunes and do a restore or update if just connecting it wont work)
