  • Armenians in Lebanon.

Hello,

Well I have been having a chat with a French-Armenian person on the Internet, so as we were talking, he asked me about Armenians in Lebanon. Do they have special rights ? Is any Armenian allowed to travel to and from Lebanon ? I don't know how to develop my question here, but any explanations will be appreciated.

Thanks.
Yeh they have rights, there's a deputy for them also
Armenians have the same rights as every other person has in Lebanon.
We are not special we are treated as normal Lebanese who speak Armenian.
"Armenians in Lebanon" are completely Lebanese citizens with Armenian descent and have all the right and duties of a Lebanese citizen. Lebanese with Armenian descent may not necessarily have an Armenian nationality though some can just like any Lebanese citizen can have Lebanese and other secondary nationality.
Correct me if I am wrong. But almost all Armenians in Lebanon are Lebanese with Armenian origins... So they have the same rights as Lebanese... And I know this for a fact, that most of them don't even have an Armenian citizenship (even though they can ask for it giving they provide proofs)
Some Armenians in Lebanon are actually Turkish immigrants. As for rights, they have all the rights of regular Lebanese, which is almost nothing. LOL.

All Armenian outside Armenia are immigrants.
There are two sides in Armenia Western and Eastern. The Armenians all around Lebanon and other countries are Western and the ones in Armenia are Eastern.
@AvoK95

Yeah in theory I'm Armenian as well. Renounce nationality long time ago.
As far as am concerned I belong to the human specie not to any nation or culture.

I hate it when Armenian people talk Armenian in public, its disrespectful to others.

I actually hate a lot of Armenian ways of living, brainwashing, racist, hatred (go read your bible) etc...

@Razorback a lot of Lebanese think that Lebanese-Armenian have an Armenian citizen. Which is normal I think.

Same here.
They're very close minded... They don't think logically.
@AvoK95 i guess we mainly agree then.

I could say the same thing for most population, but since Lebanese-Armenian are a minority in a foreign country they got it worst.
Ha! Saying Armenians are close minded is an understatement. That's the reason why we're so unknown to the rest of the country's demographics. I went to an Arab school and I speak Arabic better than Armenian so I know where you're coming from rtp.
well, the 301 in my username stands for 301 A.D and as an Armenian you should know why that year is important to us...

Because... it's the year after 300?

On a serious note, tell why; I'm intrigued.

Armenia was the first nation to adopt Christianity as a state religion, an event traditionally dated to AD 301.
They are Lebanese. They are considered like a group, and therefore get some "special" treatment, mostly in politics, I guess.

I do know the date, but How the fudge was I suppose to know that's the cause of the number in your username ? LOL
Yea,
Like one of you guys wrote in the topic,
Most armenians in Lebanon (if not all) are lebanese citizens, like every other.
But they have armenian origins, and dont even have an armenian nationality.

Im armenian aswell ! Duh.. my name is Avo,
And my arabic is bad also. Im talking about Lebanese arabic while speaking.
But like when it comes to real arabic like in the movie subtitles, im quite good xD
Armenians had it good in Lebanon (at least better). Look at all the Palestinians and how they've had to live so far.

I've only closely known one friend who happened to be Armenian. I don't really know if she's a good sample size (1), but the average Armenian is too religious for my taste.
Apply logic/fallacies and attack.

Please, for fuck's sake, stop staying: this thread will soon be closed. It serves no purpose, adds noise, and diverts the purpose of the conversation.
arithma wroteArmenian is too religious for my taste.
We are the first people who accepted Christianity, that's all. We are not that religious as we were before..
i find it very weird and annoying that a 25 yrs old Lebanese of Armenian descent, born in Lebanon and lived in Lebanon all his life, has problem speaking the country language.
This only applies to Armenians.
i wonder why?
Diaspora had a very big effect on Armenians, i can understand that, but they have been living in this country for over 60 years, for gods sake, '2allam 2arabi'
