  • The Gamers Comparison: PS3 / XBOX360 / Alienware(PC)

Greetings to all,

This rivalry has been going on for quiet some time and it has gotten to a point where we just can't stand it. Not to go to the extreme but most of gamers are arguing about which gaming gear is better.

Tell us with an explanation on which do you prefer for gaming: PS3, XBOX360, or a gaming PC? And why?

I'd be glad to see your posts and get to a common decent point so we all could share the same concept.

Respect.
As a gaming platform nothing beats a PC with the latest Gear (P.S.: Alienware is the worst gear to get for gaming), you can always get the newest VGA cards (SLI, CrossFire), deploy SSD hard Drives, go up to 128+ of Fast DDR3 Memories, but then you get the issues with conflicts, OS compatibilities, bad connections to services due to, for example, issues with PunkBuster. This is where a console comes into the lead, its games are designed specifically to the console spec, but this does mean lower graphics to achieve good gameplay. also upgrading to a new console once one comes out is cheaper than a PC rebuild :)

in my opinion the PS3 is the better of the 2 consoles if you are wiling to pay for original games and that is due to the free online play, which on the XBOX is a subscription fee, but if you want to get cheap pirated games for 1000L.L. then the XBOX is the console for you, that is after modding it of course.

but you have left out the gaming world of IPAD for example, that is a totally new experience and worth checking out especially if you have AppleTV (AirPlay), 1080P LCD/LED, a wireless N access point and the new IPAD. i was blown away with the games they are releasing, such as Mass Effect Infiltrator, MetalStorm Wingman, Inifinty Blade 2, Real Racing 2 HD there are also games that have multi-player features where multiple ipads or iphones can play on the same screen. and lets not forget you can take your games anywhere you go and they only cost a few dollars.

so i guess if you are a true gamer at heart, the experience is what counts, and all the gear mentioned will give you a different experience, whether using a mouse&keyboard, or grasping a joy stick, or swiping a screen, so find what suits you and your lifestyle and go for it :)
Well to tell you the truth i shared alot of threads based on the same question.
But ill start with elimination, instead of facts/openions.

1) Controller: What works on xbox 360 and ps3, works on PC. Yes the main is a mouse/keyboard, but i myself use the xbox 360 joystick for fighting games, sports, and hack n slash. FPs and rts mouse and keyboard.

2) Upgrade: People still have the notion of, a pc needs to be upgraded every 2 months. Well wrong, 1 not every month since upgrade is based on "needs". Also playing with the same quality and resolution as a ps3 and xbox 360, a mere 8800gt can handle the games quit nicely at this low res. So when people argue about pc they are comparing perfect quality+res with not so perfect res + quality. To be fair is to settle with the lowest and compare.

3) Exclusives: the consoles, atleast for me, have better exclusive games that we wish on pc.

4) Online: the pc is better in this area in almost everyway.

5) price: 60$s vs 50$s for high priced games, also pc prices tend to fall faster so its cheaper, not counting COD series as they hijack people.

6) Multiplayer: They tend to mock pc gamers. People play on a couch while pc gamer is "forever alone *troll face*". Well the way i see it, we can play multiplayer on the same screen. All sports games, and fighting games support multiplayer. Hell even some race games do, dirt 3 comes to mind. SO its not THAT bad.

7)Also do people realise that i can play my pc on my lcd tv? Well i can, so big screen vs 22 inch is also useless.

Bottom line is this, pc is better, but we want consoles for their exclusives.
Just my 2 cents...
I totally agree with what you've said. In fact, I've tried all gaming consoles and to be accurate about what I've experienced is that YES! and no doubt that nothing can beat a PC with the latest gear. To be honest, I've tried Alienware and it was not bad but I figured out some glitches in it though.

To talk about real gaming experience and legit according to CPU performance and style with the original games I'd go with PS3 all the way. And to talk about IPAD, well I'm into Keyboard and mouse & controllers only. Plus, you've giving me the urge to check on more info about IPAD and it's games. Thank you alot :)
Consoles = sacrificing all the advantages of PC gaming to bring affordability & ease of use.

Well, it's called "Knowledge moving through".
i wasn't sure; so i have them all.

they all have their good and bad points (if they didn't then nobody would buy all three to be honest)

I like the xbox for its controller, and when i could, it's online experience was far superior to both PSN/SEN and Steam.

I like the PS3 for the exclusive games, and the fact that i have many friends who own one so i am able to play online games with them

I like my PC since its just a power house to me, and its the best FPS experience with a mouse and keyboard; not to mention very cheap game sales on steam which has saved me a lot of money and sort of got me out of my piracy habits.

So yeah, that's pretty much it. That being said, i barely use my xbox these days (last time it was on was in January), just my PC most of the time, PS3, more of a weekly than daily basis these days.

I barely use XBOX too. Having a PC with the latest gear installed in it will take over everything reffering to gaming and multi-tasking at the same time. Good choice my friend.
I enjoy PC gaming with all its aspects, sitting at a powerful rig with that 24" in my face and surround sound with my hands on the keyboard and mouse gives me a great sense of control and immersion.

I also like to be able to tinker with the hardware and I enjoy superiour graphics.

PC is Boss.

I call this luxury my friend, I totally agree.
i would guess it is all related to what you grew up with, with me it started with an Atari console, then Laser 3000 "PC" that ran with 5" Floppies, then an SNES, then to a Intel 386 DX2 with a 20/40 MHz turbo button , then to a P5, then to a Core, then Core 2 Duo, Then Core i5. that last phase of the evolution pushed me to be a hard core PC gamer. then it happened i got old and i have neither the energy or the patience to tweak, and was more interested in a home entertainment system so i got a PS3 console :) then i got lazy so i got a IPAD3, so i guess it is age related also :)
@ rhmaidan: Age does that to you... :P
Wonder what will be tere for you when you age even more. Think about it, how we used to play atari with enthusiasm. We wreaked the joystick from mashing the buttons and moving it around. Now you moved from controllers, manhandling them, to mouse and keyboard, less man handle, all the way to TOUCH!!!

how about a 55inch 3D tv hooked to your console with some real surround
not a 50$ logitech surround
isn't it a boss too?
I dont know much about PC ,but dont you guys think its unfair to compare Ps3 and XBox360 which were released around 6 years ago with a 2010+ PC; so why dont you guys compare those 2 consoles with a PC which has a 2007-2008 qualifications ?
Anyway I've been playing Ps3 for 5 years and I'm loving it; can't judge a PC nor an XBox360 cause I never really got to play on a good one.
pc is better in than consoles in every single way, except price, im sure all of you know you can connect a joystick to a pc and think of it as an xbox/ps3?
ps, this post is useless and is gonna get locked :P
The reasons people tend to stay away from pc gaming even though its cheaper (both building a pc and games), is that they dont want to waste time fixing graphical errors , driver problems, low framerates and experiencing DRM problems.Plus most pc games are bad console ports.Other than that pc gaming is great:p

And where's Pacman when we need him? Actually, thank you for your info. We were just sharing thoughts and infos that's all.
I think saying pc is kbetter than console or the opposite is very simplisitic.
The 2mediums offer 2 different type of experiences

Are you looking for the arcade feeling then console is for you ,
i mean come on anything more self fullfilling than pulling a finish him on your best buds ?
Or more thrilling than a perfect suplex chain combo with king while your friend sits there screaming
or even better yet ,anything more evil than beating the living shyt out of people with a overgrown stick like kilik ?

And all of that on a 50inch screen so that u burrn it into your friends retina ???

Ofc on the other hand Grafixs+ keyboard + mouse = uber FPS AND RTS AND MMO .
It all depends where you get your cerebral high ,brst would be own both :p
