Do ISPs in Lebanon give out emails and passwords to their clients, because many websites require the emails and passwords given by the internet service provider in order to register? My ISP is Sodetel so I would like to hear from other Sodetel clients.
ISP emails and passwords
A website is asking you for the password of a private e–mail account? Sounds shady.Razorback wroteDo ISPs in Lebanon give out emails and passwords to their clients, because many websites require the emails and passwords given by the internet service provider in order to register? I thing Cyberia and Terranet only offers that free service.
Just like Samer said, it really sounds shady. Never share any password with anyone.
@razorback: usually websites have no way of knowing whether the email you provide comes from your ISP or not. At best, they can ban the famous commercial ones (like Gmail or Yahoo mail), or at best fetch a list of your local ISPs.
Anyway, I've never hear of a service requiring your registration email to come from the ISP domain name. Sounds like something that would work in the 90s, as in over 10 years ago (can't believe I actually knew the WWW back then). Do you have any concrete example?

But let's say that you want to register in the site you wish, and provide them with your sodetel's email how can they authenticate it ? the authentication can only be done from sodetel's mail server which the site doesn't have any access to it. Most likely if I understood right they might ask for a sodetel email but not your mail password, this is just wrong if you provide them with the password.
