Ramnesia wrotei found TP-Link TD-W8961N for 53$ and TP-link TD-W8951N for 40$. what do you think?
the differnce between those to routers in cost is 13 $ and the two has the same funcitonality TD-W8961N as a max wirless transfer rate is about 300 MBps and the TD-W8951N max transfer rate is 150 MBps ..
if i was you i'll pay those 13 $ and take the TD-W8961N
and if you can't afford it take the TD-W8951N .
Ramnesia
okay.
i called ogero to get some info on what papers they need to apply.
the woman on the phone was in a hurry she told me quickly a copy of the id and the last phone bill and 160.000, i managed to tell her i have my own modem she said 65.000 , i was going to ask her where to apply she said thank you for u call bye.
i live in achrafieh then i should apply at ogero sassine right?
Prince
Yea i think you should you apply in sassine just recall them on 1515 and re-ask them
and you can apply online via Ogero website open the website and scroll down you will find
OGERO DSL Apply Online
fill it and they will contact you hopefully

Is there any ISP offering DSL speeds > 8Mbps ? WIth Ogero it's barely 6 - 6.5.Mbps but the free night downloads and latency are the pros.
user
I doubt that if ogero doesn't have it, that another ISP would have it. Also don't trust advertisement. At work we are subscribed to the 4 mbps sodetel, we get 3 mbps maximum even when we use download managers and everything we can... So if you find them advertising 8 mbps, they will give you like 5(the higher the speed, the harder it is for them to provide it)

hello, microcity just got the TPLink TD-W8961ND for $44.
i'm conflicted between this router and the TPLink TD-W8951ND , basically the first has two 3dbi antennas and the second has 1 5dbi antenna , which one offers the better range ?
and finally can this be configured at home (my provider is ogero, obviously)
thank you
NuclearVision
@chassis I have 2 to link routers For pppoe not dsl. One tht has 2 antennas and one has 3. They have almost same range..
It does not cover my whole apartment.
Ramnesia
After reading some internet reviews i think TPLink TD-W8961ND is better, mainly better for long range and for 300 Mbps transfer rate. as Prince said.
microcity i would like to know where is it?
chassis
thanks for the replies .
www.microcityweb.com that's the website.. they are located in hamra and jneh.
do you know if it can be configured at home?, i really don't want to go down to ogero and have them do it
NuclearVision
I think not, 2 years back in time when I was an ogero subscriber they configure it for me every time I bought a new router. however there is a thread on this forum where you can retrieve your password by sending an email to an ogero employee.
NuclearVision
@Avo Ogero speeds are bad, they give priorities to others ISPs I remember at my uncle's 1mbps is 70-80KB/s while it hits 100+ at my other uncle's house (cyberia). Cyberia also gave unlimited from 11 to 8 am, unlike ogero's 12-7
Ramnesia
Weird. That is not what i heard and actually saw at some friends.
NuclearVision
Yeah that's ogero in cities... But they have some good latencies to be fair.

Guys. I applied for ogero yesterday.
I also contacted their support, about the router, he said I should take it to the central in Hosn something, and the process takes about 2-3 weeks or so.
My question is, should I go give them the router to let them do their thing.
Or ..
I read somewhere in this topic that I could email an ogero employee asking for my Lnumber and pass. and I'll just set the router for myself?.
thanks.
Ramnesia
i'm going to apply tomorow.
i have the same question as AVOlio.

they will set the the password of the router and they wont give it to you by phone
and Ogero emplyoe won't give you the PPPOE account which are the Lnumber and password that make you router connect to Ogero servers they will simply give you the password of the username and password of you router only. to take router username and password you should email ogero employee with the Lnumber and phone number .
AVOlio
So , are you sure that they wont give me the PPPOE username and password ?
Not even if i call them ?
I Wouldnt want to make all that trip to the Central , and then, after 2 weeks, go again to take it .
Guys, can anyone else give us an assurance on this subject ?
DNA
prince is right it is impossible to get your pppoe credentials over the phone, the first time you subscribe you should take the router to Mina alhosn.
you can get them from your router after it has been configured.

But will it work if i didnt give them my router at all ? Like without them configuring my router with my proper L number and pass.
By just simply plugging the router to the wall after my DSL is ready .
I doubt it .
