Hey Samer, care to send me an invite as well? Looking forward towards the challenges :)
A warning to everyone: Exercise
MrClass, Rahmu, invite sent!
Joined, looking forward to the group challenge.
i think we should set a common baseline by not entering past trainings and designate a day by which all who are interested join and report their goal and launch for example sometime next week, monday perhaps?

Is anyone consuming amino acid supplements? How can I find out which is the best out there? How many should I take per week/month? Are there any negative side effects? Thanks for your answers.
By the way, am I the only one updating/tracking his stats on Fitocracy? Come on guys!!

Great recommendation Samer, you beat me to it. While I was reading the Op's post, first thing what came to my mind was Starting Strength.samer wroteIf you are uncomfortable with the idea of lifting weights and want the appropriate motivation, I recommend Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe. The book details five essential exercises that can be achieved using only a barbell (or "axe" like we Lebanese call it). The book is really detailed and goes deep to the biological/anatomical level. It is a great program for beginners, and I have been having good results (went from skinny to squatting my own weight in a couple of months).
I had the same back pains some of you are having, I work as an sap consultant ( >12 hrs on the laptop the whole day). I knew I had to do something because it was unbearable specially at 24 yrs of age, first thing came to my mind was to google bodybuilding and guess what did I get, none other than www.bodybuilding.com, I don't advise anyone to go and try their routines as beginners since most of their routines are for >7-10 yrs of bodybuilding. After working for several months on a bodybuilding routine and working in circles without reaching somewhere, somehow I got directed to starting strength. I loved the simplicity of it and the reason behind it, this program is real.
After 4 months of going on the program, I now squat 120 kgs and deadlift 150 kgs on a bw of 85 kgs (height is 183 cm ).
While doing the program, all the pain in my back, neck, wrists... have gone without using any ergonomic tool, the solution doesn't lie in getting tools to work around the problem, it's removing the problem from the start and the problem is that our body has evolved over millions of years not to sit and work on laptops but to do physical activities, those last couples of years have a great impact on our lives that our body is not used to, thus obesity, coronary problems...
In a nutchell, lift heavy, do some sprints, eat clean real food (such as the paleo diet, or a more easier diet check the "nourishing traditions" book). An article that we can all relate to http://edition.cnn.com/2011/10/14/health/video-gamers-bodybuilders-fitocracy/index.html
Hope this brings some motivation into the group.
Cheers guys
Thanks for the informative post RyanAn.

oh boy.. here we see how i fail upon my own call.
i had the intention of activating myself only to face the tides, during the last week and a half my workload has doubled and along side i have been attempting to bid and purchase a house and coordinate some partial renovation with beurocracy failling me.
well, i still could have succeeded in attempting but what arrised was that i was simply too tired because of sleep depreviation. so with this response that i am writing and an extention to this thread, I would like to emphasize on the importance of routines and sleeping enough during the right period of the day.
so as to add to the list, workout, sleep well and eat well. that is only one side of the tripolar balance:
-balance with yourself
-balance with your work life
-balance with your social life
these need to address you:
-intellectual ambition and development
-freedom of self expression and enjoyment
-independency
etc

I lost the habit of logging my workouts after travelling.
Yesterday, I forced myself to do it again and it sort of feels good that I leveled up.
I noticed that Rahmu has made some good progress, but everyone else stopped logging their workouts.
Let's do this guys, time to revive the effort!

Same here samer. Actually it got pretty annoying to reenter the list of exercises that you did. The system only keeps a short log of the last entered exercises, so you have to keep searching in list for the exact exercise that you performed. In addition, you have to find the correct name of the exercise you did; some of the exercises I do are not even listed. Wish they showed you an animation of the exercise once you hover on its name. I am still going to the gym, it's just the logging part annoys me.
Is anyone taking any supplements to help muscle growth? If yes, can you mention for how long have you been taking and if there was noticeable improvement in muscle growth or performance. Thanks for your feedback!
