hi,
I am thinking of buying a tablet, I have two major alternatives Ipad 2 16gb wifi, and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 16gb 3g. they are both in the same price range, but I am not sure which one I should get.
1. GT has better hardware vs Ipad 2 (ram, 3g,....)
2. Ipad 2 has better feel and quality (metal vs plastic).
3. GT is thinner and lighter (easy handling).
4. Ipad has IOS which is for me more stable than android (p.s I've tried both HTC dhd, iphone 3gs, ipad 1, HTC hero, .........).
5. GT can be modified more by rooting but then ipad has JB too (not a big fan of modifying my phones and tablets) but sometimes i do it for FREE APPS.
6. IOS has a little bit more in general and has a lot more apps specially made for the IPAD screen.
7. GT has better browsing experience than IPAD.
8. IPAD has higher value when reselling (IPAD 1 is still selling used for 350$).
9. IPAD has more accessories and compatible devices and systems in the market.
10. Ipad is going to release a new model (ipad 3) in april wich means (cheaper Ipad 2).
11. GT has 3g enabled which means navigation (although not many nav programs work in LEB)
So please help me make up my mind and make a decision that i will not regret later.
Many thanks in advance

ipad 2, based on your points it seems like a clear choice ... although be wary no jailbreak exists for ios 5 ...yet

This is why I am so confused, a part of me wants IOS and the other wants Android, as for the jailbreak, I don't think new IPADs bought from lebanon will have IOS5 and if so they always find a way to jailbreak it. :)
If there is anyone who can share his or her experiences with the devices!
Thanks.

We got an ipad 2 as gift and all I can say : DON'T BUY IT!
Why? Simply because flash is not supported, more than half websites won't open, now my parents want a laptop!

it doesnt matter how the feel is cause most likely your gonna add a cover to it for protection.
the 3G isnt a big deal cause if you have your phone with you, you can turn it into 3G wifi router, (I have e72 and JoikuSpot, which turns my phone to wifi router for my PC and Ipad 2)
so to simple things you have to look at, either wait until the JB ios5 for ipad2, or until Icecream Sandwich is released on Galaxy Tab and you dont hear all the problems on the tablet.
how come no one talks about the ASUS Transfomer Prime or the Acer Tablets or the HTC Tablet

mmmm, good point, is there any other problems you are facing with the IPAD?

M2 is selling Archos tablets which are more professional than Samsung and with Android...
Also don't forget with android you can boost performance with rooting+roms

well, I am not really an Archos fan, and I prefer Ipad and Samsung GT because you can find some accessories for them.

Go for the GT, ICS is coming soon.

another good point, lets face it android has much more potential than IOS !!

I would wait to get a native ICS android tab, instead of getting a Gingerbread and wait for a backport.

I'm really bad at waiting, and after I sold my DHD, I have no peace of tech left home except my laptop. so I need a tablet now :)

any one with an experience about GT 10.1 to share ?

I have no problems with my IPad 2, it's insanely fast, absolutely smooth and fits my every need perfectly.
All we can do is tell you about our experience with a device, in the end, you should grab both in your hands and decide which one you want.
You just need to identify why you need the tablet before you decide on buying one.

Personally I still don't find any usage for tablets, it's totally useless when you have a smartphone and PC, just a show-off toy!
