  • Lebanese Minecraft server - a proposal

As an avid player of Minecraft, it saddens me that there is not at least one public Lebanese Minecraft server! I play on a certain Dutch server sometimes because I have a friend there, and it is great, though I do sometimes long for a Lebanese server to feel more "at home", if you will.

I have noticed that there are barely any Lebanese Minecraft players, especially on this forum, or maybe they're all hiding somewhere... either way, I think that a Minecraft server dedicated to Lebanese players wouldn't be too shabby of an idea. Since there aren't that many players in the first place, we'd have a nice and cozy community of 15-20 players where we can enjoy the freedom of creativity that is Minecraft with fellow Lebanese! Maybe even a vent or IRC channel too.

This would obviously have to be hosted by someone out of Lebanon, though, for obvious reasons. Hosting with internet here would be horrendous. I think with enough people vouching for it, though, it could become a possibility.

Thoughts? Is anyone interested?
I'm in. but I have absolutely no idea how to get the server up. What do you have in mind?
That's great! What I had in mind was a bukkit server with a couple of mods to make the experience better. By mods, I mean simple ones, like the one that lets you return to your death point after you die by typing /back. It'd be also better, in my opinion, if this server was a survival one, because you get more of a sense of accomplishment.

Also, what exactly do you need help with? I'd be happy to assist.

If there was a Minecraft Server I'd buy it on Steam... But of course, someone has to give it to me, cause I can't download it.

Minecraft itself is only 2MB. When you launch it though it starts downloading the music and sound files, which are about 50 mb total, so it's not really big.

I take it nobody is interested in this then?

i live in eastern europe. i can download 3 mb per second. i think my internet connection would be nice enough to host a server but im not sure how to and does the IP status affect if you can make a server?
heyy guys i know how to make a sever for minecraft but the thing is i need to portforward it and i forgot the damn router password now i need to reset the router then reprogram it and then i have to find the freakin account password, but if any of you would like to make the server would be awesome, here's a link to how to make one it's really simple:

First of all, do you have a real IP address, one that is externally accessible from the internet? As in, if I were to try and access your IP address, would I be able to connect to you, and go straight to your services, or would the IP address belong to your ISP? Please share your location, ISP, connection type, etc... so that we can see if it's possible. Thanks in advance.

I'm a big time Minecraft player. I play on a British server mostly. I'd definitely be interested in playing with other Lebanese minecrafters.

Problem is that the server needs a really good connection.
i used to play it on my friends server in USA using hamachi. i can ask him about it if you want.
you can rent minecraft servers that run on 100mbps up and down connections. Pricing depends on how many players you want to support (5 euros for 10 players, 10 for 20, etc.) That's probably the best option since no one in lebanon has a fast and unlimited connection

holy cheeseburgers i was so busy i forgot about this thing :s
short answer, i don't think so, since i told you i am having trouble making a server in the first place because of this thing, the only reason i wanted to make a server is just for me and my friends to play on which he is also from Lebanon, but anyways one of my friends also had a CS server in Lebanon which was awesome since it has no lag but then he had to reformat his computer because of system file corruption, my point is i think anyone with a decent computer and internet connection can do it, just needs some brains and i think you guys have them :P
guys i just rememberd there's a great server that me and my friend play on it almost all the time(mostly me :P)
and i became an admin on it not long ago so i can help you out if you decide to join in, the only catch is it is very unpopulated, but i think we can fix that if a lot of you start playing on it, it may grow fast, here's the server ip:
178.116.54.126:25565
remember, you can add it to your server list for quick access, hope you join :D
Why don't create a server using hamachi? I've created one about 2 hours ago.
mohammadk97 i created one but i need to portforward and i don't freakin know the password to the router lol.
mohammadk97 wroteWhy don't create a server using hamachi? I've created one about 2 hours ago.
Mohammadk97, I have a much better solution than Hamachi I've prepared myself. Easier to set up, much faster, much more flexible, and much more minimalistic. Contact me via PM.
hmm any one knows hoe to get the game without buying it.....on Ubuntu.....interested in trying it out :)
