mezin wroteHey i don't know if this will help you but i had a similar problem with a galaxy tab that came from KSA. My problem with it was that it had a limited version of froyo and comes bundled with useless applications and no android app market. The thing would not turn on after a bad flash and the battery just wouldn't charge (apparently charging is routed through the software which is retarded). Well to make a long story short the only time i saw an activity on screen was when i plugged it into a wall outlet for 5 minutes but as soon as i plug it out it's back to nothing. It just wouldn't hold the charge.
What worked for me was plugging it into the PC and waiting for like 1 hour (ironically the long wait with samsung technical support made me realize it was trying to power on all along) , after which the pc would have given it enough charge to power up even though it's on the software panic screen, after that simply use odin to flash a firmware that is known to work on the device and you're set (i remember there were a couple of other files as well that go along with the firmware but i'll leave that up to you).
I'm pretty sure it's close to what's going on with you. Hope it works.
My phone gets detected by Odin but it's not flashing it, it hangs at "<1> setup connection..."
