Thanks guys - Much appreciated :)
Feedback for Sodetel
Since this post is prolly infested with sodetel subscribers, I have a question for you all.
Has anyone noticed that sodetel's connection and ping replies have been rather sucky as of late? and by sucky I mean it sucks enormous bananas.
I'm subscribed to the 4 mbps plan.
When the new packages were first released, I used to get a speed of 3.5 mbps (on average) and a 95-110 ms ping (I test the link to bbc.co.uk usually). Everything was going smoothly. I was LOVING the IMEWE. Back then, I used to occasionally get a slightly lower speed and a 350-400 ms ping (appears to be a satellite connection).
Since Feb, I have been getting a barely 2 mbps connection with a 450 ping all the time (and it's very unstable as well). I'm aware that the plan's description is 'up to 4 mbps' but that doesn't mean that it should be 'barely 2mbps with a huge latency'. For every 10 trials of disconnecting and reconnecting the modem, I get a link via IMEWE.. Whenever I come back home I need to waste 15 mins of my time near the modem.
I called them, they said that they have some kind of shortage in the E1s. Yesterday or the day before, the minister announced that 10 extra Gs have been deployed. shouldn't it be fixed by now?
I am pondering an isp switch. heard that IDM is a bit better than sodetel.

@HotCreep: First, i suggest you read the last two pages of this thread since they focus on the problem you mentioned. Second, i don't think there is a fix for this issue, it's very simple, what we do is we keep DC/Connect until we get a different IP with lower ping, you dont have to do that by turning off ur modem manually, simple access your modem on your computer and click the DC button. As for speed, i have noticed that speedtest websites tend to give a rather false results. I tested my connection and for an almost 1.5Mb speed but then opened a torrent file and managed to get 300Kb download speed. So don't judge it solely through speed test websites. Other than that, as long as the DC/Connect is working, i truly believe Sodetel is superior to all the others. I heard lots of complaints from IDM and Terranet users. Sodetel do have a high level of stability which i really enjoy.
Only 10 trials ? man you should be thankful because you are lucky, I am doing it at least 50 times, one day I tried more than 300 times with no success.HotCreep wroteFor every 10 trials of disconnecting and reconnecting the modem, I get a link via IMEWE..
as many have noticed, I got a gateway ip with small latency, and then later that day(barely an hour later) I had to restart cause it disconnected and I got the same default gateway with high ping
Opps... My bad here. I just saw the name 'Sodetel' and got too excited to rant about my problem.Ruroken wrote@HotCreep: First, i suggest you read the last two pages of this thread since they focus on the problem you mentioned. Seems I'm not the only one here who's frustrated about this.
I do not only depend on speed test sites though, I don't know, it just feels slower. Whenever I open a page, whenever I try to load a youtube vid (most of the times I have to refresh the page several times to watch a single youtube vid!).
Even downloading a relatively large file can be agonizing. It often fluctuates between 0 (yes ZERO) and 150 Kbytes/sec.
I am fed up. Sodetel's customer support is BAD. they don't even have a twitter account to communicate with their subscribers.
Lebanon is hopeless.
And DC/Connect not working again......
Yeah the DC trick is not working...any update ?!?! other than mine
Well my ping now is 500+ with requests timed out so don't know what's going on with them.
You dont want the online gaming package because you need to pay more ?
Had it before and stopped it. Regardless if you're playing games or not, ping 500+ is retarded.
my ping is fluctuating between 350 and 520... beautiful.
I phoned a friend who works in this field he told me sodetel has been having problems all week long. Still, the disconnect trick is not working, and I'm depressed :(
I am still doing the dc/connect trick and it works like a charm and my speed is lower last two weeks but still higher than 2m .
if the dc/connect try turning off your router .
I currently have 90 ms in LOL

Funny.. I just checked here. I've been switched to the IMEWE pool it seems. I didn't disconnect the router nor do a DC/connect. current speed is 3.45/040. I so hope it stays that way
Ok tried it now again, from my first try, it dropped to 95ms. Guess they had a problem or something
Lets hope it lingers..
I just restarted now once and got the 100 ms... is it a good sign?
2 days ago I did like 50 tries and got nothing and you guys are saying the ping dropped, maybe they changed something :P
or maybe I'm just hoping too much

Guys, I need you all to try my software. It connects and disconnects automatically until the latency reaches the target you want. Again, since few heard the last time, who's willing to try this time? I need to try it on different models of modems. So please state your modem model too.
to be honest, I don't think it is a matter of how many times you restart the router anymore. it may have been that way before but now, it's just completely random, sometimes all the good gateways pings whatever are gone and sometimes it's a 50/50 and you can easily get a ride :P
I would try it though why not
I have a zhone router initially got it from ogero... as long as I don't have to stay up all night tweaking anything I'm willing to try your software and could record results...
