Any Sodetel user suffering today from high latency (Due to Satellite) no matter how many times you change your IP and no matter which range you land on ?
I have literally changed my IP more than 300 times, from 6:00 PM till now 7:30 PM.

^^ I hope they are maintaining something because if that's permanent I am not going to stay with them.

same here as well !!!

People who have the Sodetel's expensive fixed IP package, do you have this same issue ?
Dirol
Well, after upgrading to 4 Mbps and the idea that the support said better latencies, since around March 16, i've been experiencing high pings + jitter/Lag-spikes ones (sucks for online gaming).
Actually i've already filled in a DSL application request for new ISP, Terranet.
If the problem persists with you , i advise you to subscribe to a new ISP.
So again: A brief summary of my #296 post:
Improper Sodetel's Upload Speeds:
4 Mbps users who posted screen-shots in here are only getting 0.5 Mbps and not the 20% of the supposed-minumum-download-speed which is 0.8Mbps.
2 Mbps users and 4 Mbps users screen-shots posted in here have the same upload speeds!!!.
+ Bad latencies.
What are you waiting for?!... and maybe more underlying bad secrets.
@Aly: Lately, needed to reconnect multiple times to get LOW-Ping IPs and some still have Lag-Spikes/Jitter, unlike the first days of my 4 Mbps upgrade.
IF your Sodetel's connection is bad then it's needless to whisper in your ears "Sodetel cares more for companies".
Aly
@ Dirol, you know switching ISPs is a pain in the ass in Lebanon, switching from IDM to Sodetel left me 2 months without internet, that's why for now I am gonna wait and see, if this is a permanent situation I will be switching.
But of course there is another dilemma, there is no good ISP in Lebanon, at some point IDM was the best almost everyone recommended IDM back then, after the upgrade people recommended Terranet, then came Sodetel with their super low prices compared to others and farmed alot of customers and now they suck, that's what is holding me too from switching, all ISPs have their ups and downs.
Dirol
@Aly: you mightbe right that all ISPs suck but the idea is that:
according to what users said in here + our experiences and testings with Sodetel connection, it is obvious that Sodetel is removing regular users from fiber-backbones to the satellite ones for companies. Only 1 User said, "Chup: Not just Sodetel... All ISPs".
I haven't heared or noticed any complaints with IDM or Terranet like this "Sodetel" thread over the internet so far, and if you go to ahsandsl.com, you can see other ISPs going better generally.
If you intend to switch, you may want to use dial-up connection economically until done or try to get a wireless connection from your neighbours or the cable-internet provider.
I will update you with my Terranet connection when i get it done.
Aly
Thank you Dirol, keep us posted about your experience with Terranet when you get it.
I also sent a "straight-forward" email to Sodetel's support about the situation and this is their reply:
Dear Sir,
Thank you for emailing Sodetel.
Please note that we are aware of this issue and we are working on it with the concerned department
Sorry for any inconvenient you are facing
Thank you
Let's wait and see.

guys I posted here earlier , saying i am switching to sodetel.
So, i have been using sodetel for 1 month now (4m)
my review:
Download speed is great 300-400 kb/s
Availability : Great 24/7
Ping : friday or sunday night really bad .
M-Th : ping 300-400 need to renew ip until i get one on fiber( or with the least daghet quoted from the tech support )
Its shame that our internet is still has 300-500ms
Iv used terra for 3 years ( quick review ) latency stable 190-250 all day all week but download speed is very bad .
AVOlio
Yeaa niiiice .. my 2mb subscription has a 0.3 Mbps max speed during night traffic, and download speed is neveeer stable !!
PSSHHH, everyone bragged about how sodetel is good and stuff... yea right.. i see how good it is !!
user
I am worried that changing might not help, what is the guarrenty other ISPs are better?
also I think sodetel's performance would be tied to any improvements on the government's part. The minister revealed that they added 10 GB bandwidth to our national bandwidth making it 23 GB now but it still is not activated, I will wait for that... and after that, I'll wait for the fiber optics and if it still doesn't work, I'll immigrate, just to play some online games.

I contacted Sodetel by phone today, the guy was friendly, he started with the typical "shared connection" reply and latency might sometimes be high and other times low, but I broke into the point directly and told him, I know you have low ping IP pools (Fiber) and high ping IP pools (Sat) and I have some kind of log I can tell you which subnets are low and which ones are the high ones, but now it seems all your residential subnets are routed through sat, then the conversation changed, he said something like "Well sir when the company have some kind of shortage of bandwidth they become forced to do such things, now we heard lately that the government will increase the international bandwidth so it will be more comfortable for you and us when this happens".
So somehow I can personally conclude, Sodetel is out of Bandwidth they probably purchased more Satellite bandwidth and using it for their residential customers, until the gov unleash the new additional 10 Gbps Sehnaoui talked about.

Offline
until ogero does you mean, don't forget the last time ogero delayed the cable unveiling for an entire year based on the whims of its director
edit: at least sodetel knows that is is bad for their customers and they are not shrugging it off as being normal :P

Oh my, I was just thinking of doing such a tool myself. If you want, I can make you one. Will try to provide you with it by tomorrow, hopefully.
I could make one that uses either telnet or one that presses left click over the disconnect / connect button. Which one would you prefer?

Whatever works , I dont have a big insight on the subject .
Could send me a message ( so we dont go off topic ) on how it is made ?
thank you
Aly
On my end things are back to normal, I am having low pings again, I hope this issue wont happen again.
MasterBatata
well i have the 4 mb and i don t think that the issue is solved
