you are absolutely right, this month i downgraded my 4mb to 2mb, i would have downgraded it to 1mb but 6gb quota isn't enough for us in the house

Yeah I'm going to do the same
serenity wroteBtw for all of us that don't have a fixed IP and are on a 4 Mbps, Sodetel is no longer giving us 4 Mbps. If you run one download u get a speed of 1 Mbps max; run another and get 2xsimultaneous 1 Mbps downloads.
They are fooling us completely. This is way cheaper for them and they are increasing their profits by doing that.
Am I wrong ?
Try to install a download manager that runs several connections simultaneously.

In my case, you're wrong. The only stable thing have been the download speed. I get 350+ download speed during the day and from Torrent, not direct download. My only problem have been the latency, aside that i'm happy.

When i was with Sodetel 4 Mbps, the download speed and ping sucked even though my central is Hamra.
Funny & Sarcastic Sodetel Moments:

1)@600ms ping:
Emailing Sodetel Support due to unusual High Pings at around 600ms at a certain time in the past:

A)Hello. I'm getting very high pings of 500-650 ms. (etc...)
B)Support: Please send us capture screen results.

and after many hours,

B)Dear user, after investigating the issue with the concenred department, a ping of 600 ms is Normal...

600ms is normal. Haha.

Calling them: "Welcome to Sodetel..."
B)Support Sodetel, Allo:
A)Me: مرحبى، عيني عم يوصل عندي البينج ل 600
B)Support: "طبيعي..طبيعي"

!!!طبيعي طبيعي.هاهاها

2)@300-400ms ping:
Emailing them...

A)Hello. I'm getting pings of 300-400 ms. (etc...)
B)Support: Please send us capture screen results ping to local IPs, DNS, and International Website and
trace route at Support@sodetel.net.lb.
Spending your time on it with self-confidence :d and after hours passing:

B)Dear user, please note that a latency of 300 to 400ms is normal especially in our peak time. To ensure getting low latency, get a fixed ip or upgrade your connection.

....
After few days, you make up your mind to catch the fish: You upgrade your connection... then.. WOW!! Nice ping. And you start to say: YAY Sodetel, Sod. wbas. However, after about 15 days, you say goodbye little Maxinos :D.

Man, they say peak time 300-400 but it's ALWAYS at 300-400 so it's always peak time which means they have a lot more customers than the connection can handle. Funny, how they own themselves, this guy must have half a brain.
Btw all they will say is upgrade your net to a fixed IP because they make like 4x the profit. It costs them nothing to give you a fixed IP, but they make so much money out of it. Bastardooooooooo, we could sue them if we had a judiciary system rofl
My attempt to uncover the mystery:

Hello,

I currently have the 4Mbps plan. Since the beginning of the month the latency has been pretty high. I am aware of the "shared connection" story, but last months were better since I used to randomly get a good Latency when turning on/off my router. My questions are:

*Is this constant 400 MS latency going to drop anytime soon or is it not going to ?
*I have also noticed that after midnight, the connection is different and I manage to get a good latency. Why not make it happen during the day?

I would please like clear answers so I could switch packages for next month.

Thank you.

The answer: Dear Sir,

Thank you for emailing Sodetel.

If you are aware of the shared connection issue, the latency is not stable and 400 ms in rush hours are normal and we are always working to get the most stable latency to our users,
If you are using your connection just for a low stable latency, you need to check the fixed IP package that offer you this opportunity.
You can refer to our sales department on their email sales@sodetel.net.lb or on their hotline 1268 for the fixed IP package and details

Thank you

Well just 3 weeks left till my sodetel connection is canceled, im using it for hard downloads after 12 and using my wise box for gaming ,wise box gives me a 150ms ping...ogero needs 1 month to setup my connection with them but i can manage with my wise box,i suggest you guys do the same.sodetel is just gonna get worse and worse, they have exceeded their capacity in sustaining users and have failed to upgrade their shit therefore giving us(the users) crap quality internet so that they make more money. and people ffs the fixed ip for 23$ is the biggest ripoff in the world, why pay 23$(IP)+33$(dsl)=56$ when you can get a good 100ms and 2mbs and 12-8 free download with ogero or idm for 35$ ????and save yourselves from the bullshit that sodetel offers. ps: when i called sodetel the last time and spoke to the guy who told me that 600 ms is 3ade i told him it seems that you and the company you work for are either completely dumb for thinking 600 ms is 3ade or expect that you are smarter than everyone else in the world for trying to convince us that 600 ms is 3ade . the guy went quite for a minute than he said sory sir nothing we can do you can get the fixed ip for an extra 23$/per ,that was when i hung up in his face :)

just lovely -.-

well guys this was taken at 3:43am (just mailed it to sodetel and told them if 3:43am is peek time they should all burn in hell) 0.16 down 0.17 up 634ms i think this happens for everyone from 3am till 4-5 am and in the evenings 2mbs goes down to 1 mbs never stable pin constantly at 400+ youtube takes minutes to load and then stops cus of the delay /Skype lags / cant play online games /wtf can we do lol open Facebook ?
how much does a fixed ip cost anyway? and what are the benefits?
about 22$ without vat , benefits are non basically what you get for free with idm/ogero and other isps low latency wich we should not have to pay for and witch does not cost them anything to give us but instead they charge 20+$ so they are basically just robing people of their money and using their shity latency to extort people to pay for the fixed ip.

Yeah you're absolutely correct, and the fixed IP costs $100+ every month for 2Mbps only no ?

is it just me ? after 12 getting these speeds ?
105$/month for 2MB fixed IP and 25GB usage i think, and yes Romel, a lot of us are getting such results
wow thats stupid, i shouldn't have ordered a sodetel account, the first month is free, and i already have a dsl router so i didn't pay anything at all, ill try the first month for free then unsubscribe if its unsatisfying (hopefully my town has good latency?)

Don't you get the first month free by agreeing to use their service for a specified period of time? you might not be able to cancel it sooner.

Latency is not town related, and those first free month with no installation fees have dirty little details in the contracts that forbid you from bailing out without paying or staying for 6 months with them (In some cases) so its not actually free after all, good luck though.
