man its the same SHIT, they blame ogero, and guess what, Ogero's connection is FINE !

Sodetel canned responses:
1) We don't know (I got that a few times)
2) Buy a new router(my router was fine)
3) It's normal sir (the 500 ms latency is normal)
4) It's ogero's fault.
Don't bother calling 1278 support, just pick one of the above.
ironman
Exactly :)
the coolest is #3
the 500 ms latency is Normal, this response makes me mad

I just called support to ask why I always get 0.8mb on my 1.5mb unlimited plan, and they said that its ogeros fault, and everyone's unlimited connection is 1mb now and they don't know when it will be fixed....is this true? is everyone out there with the unlimited plan getting 1mb, instead of 1.5mb?
ghattas-akkad
good your getting 0.8-1mb i have a 0.6 max connection speed with a 550ms latency
and I really think that this is not ogero's problem but Sodetel FUP I have monitored my connection in the last few days and realized that I am getting 0.6-1mb connection from 8 am till 7pm
and then it is in the 0.06-0.3 range from 7pm till 12pm
and then on the download gets to 190kBps which is a 1.5mb
this couldn't be an ogero problem :)

Ohh let me tell you the greatest news, i had the 4Mb connection from Sodetel, and after the great Minister Harb announced the new plans, i was migrated to the 8Mb for free (44$ per month)
recently (a month ago), i started having crazy disconnections, after calling them they said they need to investigate the issue.
the investigation took 3 weeks, and i received the answer....
My phone line cannot support 8Mb, and i need to go back to 4Mb (which is fine for me, but it took them 8 months to figure out that and i paid 11$ x 8 without even benefiting from the connection)

Strange... Really strange!
Torrent downloads speed reaches 400+kbps whereas regular downloads, video streaming, speed tests run at 60kbps max :/

I was reading through the feedback for ISPs threads and stumbled upon Sodetel's website. They claim to offer 16 Mbps Down/ 2Mbps Up for 70$. Is there any truth to it, can copper wires reach this speed?
DSL 16M - BLUE
2 Mbps
16 Mbps
80 GB
$ 69.90

I have the 8Mb plan and let me tell you, pepridge farm remembers how that speed used to feel. In summary, they only granted me that speed for couple of months then I only got 400 K to 500 K on a good day. When asking what is the problem through tech support they always answer with 2 answers . Either, it's from ogero , or that problem is because of you.

That's a shitty excuse. I'm getting 6.7 Mbps on average with terranet, but my upstream SNR is crap (8.5) that's why I'm not getting the upload speed I paid for. Do you think changing the old wire running up from the ogero box to my apartment will improve it?
bogdan22
I honestly do know. But I know they give a lot of excuses where as the problem is with ISPs. Try it before chaning an ISP cause believe me that is the last resort you should consider. You have to go through a lot of waiting and eventually may get a reply as I did that the box in the area can't handle more users.

What's the deal with Sodetel anyway? My friend subscribed to their DSL service recently. He initially subscribed to the 8 Mbps, but later downgraded to the 4 Mbps package since he wasn't getting anywhere near that speed. Also, now that he is on the 4 M package, he is getting 2 M most of the time. This is disastrous. I'm glad i'm with IDM. So far their internet, for the most part, has been consistently stable with good pings to Europe.
ironman
@andrew55 i had the same issue with Sodetel, i was subscribed to 8Mbps, downgraded to 4Mbps, getting 2.7 Mbps, ended up leaving sodetel and waiting for Ogero atm.
andrew55
This is crazy. He hasn't had the service for a month yet and he is considering IDM or Ogero. I don't know why their service has deteriorated so much. Another friend of mine told me that he had been doing fine with his 8 M package before the price reduction and now it's disastrous.
ironman
Man, i really don't want to go into politics, but this price reduction issue, well, i think you know what i am about to say...

the last week, It got a little better (using plan 1.5M unlimited). Seems like they are giving bandwidth from an another unknown ISP (Waves or what is called mada)

Hello people, from like 2 weeks, someone told me that Ogero is upgrading Khaldeh Central! So i sent an email to Sodetel Support to make sure if that is right! I got a reply by yes! Ogero is fixing this issue! and we hope it will finish soon! Anyone can confirm that? I'm a sodetel user related to dsp ogero! i've got the 8Mbit package getting 1Mbit. Thanks :)

So the ping I am experiencing from sodetel is good to be true, 68 ms. But what other issue I am experiencing is the download is not reaching full capacity. I am on a 8mb interet but only hit 500kb if I am lucky. I called the technical department and they claimed the issue from ogero central in mrejieh which is the nearest to my home. Also, they claimed that other centrals like sin l fel, dekweneh, cheyah are having the same issue. Does anyone within those areas having trouble reaching full speed also ?
ironman
I was at Hazmieh, Centrale, same issue with download speed (8Mb having 150 K download speed) but with 250 ms ping, so you should praise the Lord, your ping is good.

Well i live in Bshamoun and i'm linked to the Khaldeh Central. Without a proper update for the central, the dsl speed i get from ISPs such as Sodetel is a max is 256. Anyways, this is the first time i hear anything related to Ogero's intention to upgrade the Khaldeh Central. If you get any new info, please share them with us here. Much appreciated :).
