Today my sister and I went to the CO so they configure her new tp-link router and she took the old linksys wag160nv2 router just in case they ask for it (they shouldn't though).
at first the employee said: what the problem?

i told him, then he went this one (linksys) is better than the other, i told him that we know but linksys is broken.
he plugged it in and said there is no problem, i tried to explain to him that it has many problems and probably some IC's are loose, it randomly reboots, and sometimes will freeze, or things will work and other will not....
he said no there is nothing wrong!

my sister mentioned the new plans and prices, and we said that we will get the 8mbps one and he was like: no the 4mbps is enough, don't get that, you should not get that... and eventually didn't answer her question (i forgot what was it).
and finally, i asked to at least give us the admin/password of the router. he said no you will mess it up and i said it's ok i do it all the time, but he insisted no you will reset it by default, i told him i will not and i finished my BS in telecom and CCNA ( i was kinda pissed of) then he said still you can reset it by mistake, and then he picked the phone "to call beirut" but then hanged it in moments and said:"you know what? here is my phone number and call me tomorrow to give it to you"

I don't know what you think, but i believe that ogero's service can't be worse!
we wasted like 1 hour, he helped us in nothing!
that is why i'm with Wise, and i'm glad for that, their support and pre/post services are awesome!

i just wanted to tell my story, plz forgive me if spamming the thread
any ideas on how to get the username/password of the router?

Customer service is a hit and miss, in Lebanon it's more of a miss, looks like you met Ogero's biggest jerk i'm surprised you didn't snap his neck. Anyway my cousin got his modem login info from Ogero by calling and telling them he needs to do port forwarding and he got the info without any issue, i told him to make up this lie otherwise they'll drag it on and it worked. I got mine from TerraNet after threatening on day one to switch to another ISP and go to their office to take my money back, sadly in this country sometimes you have to be rude to get your rights or give the employees the impression that you know their superior because the minute they sense you are more qualified to do their job than they are they'll give you the hardest time of your life.
just last week.I sent an email to the ogero person mentionned in one of these threads from 4 years back(I forgot the name) asking for my username and password and he immediately replied with them... you could try doing the same
I don't know how kind was Sodetel not to change the router's default username and password.
There is one other difference in the routers that I noticed. The way the network was configured. Ogero configures the wireless on a different ip than the lan, so the lan network is 192.168.1.x while the wifi is like 10.20.something. I had 2 ogero subscriptions and 2 different routers with the same deal. And that caused 2 problems for me:
1- the wifi kept disconnectign and reconnecting like once every minute or so.
2- I could not easily transfer files over the network between lan and wifi.

Anyone else notice this?(the symptoms at least)

I fixed it after I got my router's login...

It's weird that you had trouble with private ISP more than ogero regarding customer service.
for the second part, i can't agree more with you

i will be thankful if you provide me with that address.

Has anyone noticed a drop in dowload speed ?
I have the 2mbits 20GB plan from ogero and right till yesterday i was always getting the whole 2mbits with 92 latency no matter the day or time. But as of yesterday i noticed my connection slowing down. I could barely stream videos in 240p whereas before i could watch then in 480p uninterupted. I noticed my download while watching youtube capping on 66KB/S where i used to get 208KB/S.
My latency seem unaffected yet not sure.
No one was using the connection at home since i was not lagging while playing league of legends but the download speed would not exceed 66KB/S...

Yes!!

Yesterday night, I restarted my router 3 times which is something I had never done in the 8 month I was with ogero. I felt some bandwith loss and sometimes higher latency although no one at home was doing anything. I hope this is not how things will be
@Sailor

Did you send them an email or did IDM send you that message randomly? I didn't receive anything from them and i've consistently asked them for more than 4 mbps.. and i'm only 1 km from the CO...
Hey guys,
Does anyone have an idea whether if the new 2mbps unlimited plan will going you have FUP or not?
AVOlio wroteHey guys,

I am 99.99% certain that ogero will not have FUP. They don't buy the bandwidth from anywhere, they already have their 40 gb/s unlimited cable that the ministry pays for whether it is used or not.

Private ISP buy from ogero hence why they have fup
user wrote I am 99.99% certain that ogero will not have FUP.
I don't think so, personally. Ogero don't "produce" bandwidth they have to buy it from international carriers, and it's not free - although much cheaper than anything we dream of. They also have limited network capacity. FUP is a standard practice worldwide for "normal" internet.
I am pretty sure Lebanon pays a static bill for the 40 gb/s cable. If I understand correctly, Lebanon owns a part of that cable and what we pay is maintenance fee for that cable equal to the share that we own(basically pulling our own weight to keep the cable alive) And that cable is like 40 to 50 gb/s.(to us anyway, some countries get 500 gb/s from that very same cable, but they pay more) Whether we are using it or not the maintenance fee is the same. Given that Lebanon does not have web hosting companies or servers. We should be comfortable with this bandwidth.

Also, if they are smart(ogero and private ISP) they can use caching servers to cache many http downloads(java updates, wikipedia pages and images, css and javascript files etc...) which can potentially save them several tens of gigabytes a day...gigabytes that cost them nothing and that they now sell you for 4$

that's what we thought too when Ogero introduced the 12-7Am unlimited download, however alot of people kept on downloading continuously and never got the slightest speed drop, which meant Ogero could handle the load.

Out of all the ISPs in Lebanon Ogero would be the least likely to implement an FUP, also any changes to any rules of speeds and prices have to go through government to get passed and implemented, so if we don't see a "*FUP" remark on the newest decree on the "jarida al rasmiyya" (official newspaper) then it is almost too sure there's no FUP on Ogero's side atleast.
