I have Ogero DSL :S
Speed test is not reliable. Try to download a relatively large file (10MB+) and check the download rate. If it is 890kbps(105kBps) or more, then you have a true 1Mbps connection.

I have a question as well. I've recently upgraded to the 2Mbps plan. The first day of the month, when I logged in to see my bandwidth consumption, I saw that I still have a 1Mbps (10GB) connection. I sent them an email complaining about it and yesterday it changed to 2Mbps (20GB) but the speed is still capped to 1Mbps though. I called them in the morning and the sleepy support guy said "it's still in progress, it should speed up to 2Mbps by Monday". Does that make any sense? Has anyone had this issue with Ogero before?
Thanks Kasseem , but i was asking about the ISP i got !!

I did ping on google.com and got some ping time out ... is that means the problem is from my pc or Central or what .... Anyway , i have cutting voice with skype and the download rate begin with 100 , 115/s then get down to 80 , 50 and 30/s . youtube is cutting also
What on earth is wrong with Ogero... I have a 512kbps connection and downloading any file never exceeds 15Kbps (120 kbps)... even speedtest averages the same number.
^ Yeah same here. I have the 1 mbps 10gb plan and it is barely reaching 20kb/s... barely!
The internet has been terrible today. No idea what's going on.
same here, it has been bad for the past 3 days I think.
What's the matter with this internet today, it took me 30 min to download a 18 mb file, and I am using 1 mbs 10 gb!
It's been awful for the past month or so, not just the last few days. I used to get a steady 430kbps download speed.. recently it fluctuates between 200 and 350 with today being the new record at 120kbps.
Seems we are moving backwards instead of seeing some improvement.
please post the dsl stats from the router.

Go to this address: http://192.168.1.254
Enter username: user and password: user

From the left menu click Broadband Connection then, under it, click on DSL Connection.

Now look at the top right corner of the page... find and click Details.

What are your Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB] and SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB] values ?

Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]:

10,0 / 13,0

SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]:

37,0 / 31,5
Excellent stats. The lower the attenuation the better and the higher the SN Margin the better. You have both.

I was just helping with the stats as someone asked you about them. However, I doubt these stats are affecting the steadiness of your ping.

Under ideal conditions, all the ping requests should get a reply (preferably a low number close to 100ms).
I don't think the "request timed out" you experienced is related to the quality of your phone line. I believe it's a problem at the ISP's end (example: too much traffic that is forcing the server to drop some packets).

Try pinging bbc.co.uk
If you still get a lot of "request timed out" every day then contact Ogero on 1515 and let them know you have a problem.

Thank you so much DG , my ISP is Ogero , i did ping on bbc.co.uk and didn't get request timed out !! the ping is 110 ms :D

but i am wondering why the youtube video is cutting and can't upload pictures on facebook .... Also i have a delay on camera with skype !! so what do you think?
As DG already said your line should be error free with these stats so clearly it is an isp probem you can do nothing about it, you can try and call ogero but i doubt they will help you with that. and yes bad and long phone line will cause a "request time out" and packet loss because of high error rate
Edit: Please repost all the stats you see in the router not only snr and attenuation.

Hello everyone! A couple of questions please:

1- Is it normal that upload takes 20-25% of the consumption if 90% of my internet activity consists of browsing websites, forum, facebook? I dont download or watch youtube alot. Isnt the upload consumption high? How can I reduce it?

2- Are those stats good or terrible? :P
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]:37,4 / 61,9
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 7,8 / 6,2

Thanks for helping!
kfc, the stats are not good. Sorry to bring you the bad news. Your SN margin is way too low and the attenuation is high. I would be surprised if you can stay online for a long time without losing synch with the CO.
If I am not mistaken 6dB is the lowest acceptable value at which the modem can actually synchronize with the DSLAM at the CO (anything below 11dB will normally give you trouble).

I am with IDM. I was told that I can't get speeds higher than 1 Mbps since my house is far from the CO as they said. However the 1 Mbps I am getting is stable 90% of the time and the speed usually exceeds 100kb/s. Ping is around 200ms. I haven't faced any other problem so far!

Do you have any idea if 20-25% of the consumption going for the upload is normal?
