Morning everyone, hope you all got to enjoy your new speeds.

So my max rate is 22Mbps (16.5 db attenuation) and my sync rate is 20 Mbps (10db SNR Margin), yet my actual download speed via speedtest (to Lebanese servers) was 16.5 Mbps yesterday and around15 Mbps today. Is that big difference between sync rate and actual throughput normal?

Where do you live ? ironically i have the same SNR margin and better attenuation yet, lower sync speed...

Same for me 20mbps sync rate, 16.7Mbps on Speedtest
It is normal to have a real rate that is less than they synch rate. ISPs always deliver 80-85% of advertuzed speeds.

If you are on 2 mbps you get 1.7-1.8
On 4, you get 3.5-3.6
On 20 you will get 16-17
First day of open speed and already dowloaded 10gb :/ guess i'm switching to the 4mbs unlimited plan next month

I live in Mar Elias, connected to Mazraa CO. If you are with IDM, that may be the problem as I've read they're limiting their users' speed to 10 Mbps.

No dude, I'm with Ogero and the thing is that my max sync speed is around 10mbps....

My neighbor in the same building is getting 16mbps... Not sure what's the deal here, my internal wires are almost brand new...

I'm with ogero support on the line as we speak, and the guys have no idea what they're talking about... something like " ma t2arin baynak w ben jarak kel wa7ad shi " and " mni7a el 9mbps menshu bteshkeh" ... for the record it's the same idiots who refused to upgrade my bandwidth to 8mbps 2 years ago because " el khat ma bye7mol " but it seems that it does :)
I'm getting a lot of disconnects with Ogero since the upgrade. My router resets itself and I get "request timed out" quiet a lot at the night. Is that normal?

Change your filters, try calling your house from cel phone and replying -> see if it disconnects your router

Thanks dude. I basically use that line for the DSL only. Everything was perfect with the old plan, but since yesterday, when I got upgraded the disconnect starts to happen.
So, I've called IDM and told them I wanted to switch from ogero to them due to them having unlimited nights offer. They told me I'd have to stay 7 weeks without internet connection.

I've assumed that there was a decree that minimized the swap time between one ISP and the other but it seems this isn't the case.

Anyone has any information regarding this issue? My 40gb plan runs out in less then a week, and the quotas are just too small... and the unlimited plans are way too expensive for me.

Ogero will have unlimited night traffic in the fall.

I too talked to idm a week ago about switching to them, the salesperson on the phone said it will take between 1.5 - 2 months for the process.

I told her that I want to switch to them but I just can't stay without internet for 2 months, and she said that they have a lot of cases like this and its an issue for them.

No but mr imad said it will happen after the completion of the new website
I removed an extra splitter I had set up and it looks like it changed my stats a little, increased my speed by just a smidge.
Excuse my ignorance guys but how can I know my REAL internet speed?

I tried speedtest application but it seems that my provider uses some kind of caching because the results are always impressive! I get between 4 and 10mbps while I'm subscribed to the 1mbps bundle anyways! Can barely watch a 144p or 240p youtube videos etc...

EDIT: I'm on a cable connection, so no open speed bullshit for me :(

Currently, The only way to actually make a switch with no downtime is to have another internet line, get a dsl plan on it then disable the old plan on the regular line when the new plan is active. It might be a bit more costly this way, but with the advantage of a clean line with no voice for DSL and No worrying about a faulty filter.
Follow-up feedback for Ogera@Office: We got moved today to the open speed plan we requested on the phone. Modem Syncing at 12.x and download speeds at 9.x with speedtest.

Or for 2 months, pay 100$ for 40Gb / or 120$ for 60Gb of 3g, and use hotspot for your home.
