Hosni wroteanyone from ogero having disconnections in tripoli after the upgrade?
I am having random model restarts the last 2 days.
I haven't been switched to any new plans yet (still on 2 Mbps). But in the past 2 days, I've been noticing that my connection occasionally drops and the modem gives an error stating that I need to manually input the DNS servers. So it's as if the DNS servers go down yet it only lasts for barely a minute, after which everything automatically goes back to normal.
More speed means more noise and errors, and a burst of errors can cause a disconnection; So if you have interleaving off ,it's better to switch it on.
I could be wrong though and the cause might be from Ogero's side.
I called terranet today To ask about new plans
They told me that new plans have indeed been decided but they are yet to be announced
So i convinced the guy to spill some info then luckily he decided to be helpful
As for my plan.. I had 4mb 50gb my snr was 22.2 down attenuation was 21.5

So i asked him which plan will i get?
He asked me which modem i had i said tenda he said oh you changed it, it's not ours so i don't have remote access
I said don't worry I'll give you the stats
I told him My rate was now 16837 kbps (it was when i first noticed it changed too)
Except he was more impressed than i was (dunno why)
Snr was now 7.9 and attenuation didn't change of course

Then he said that my 4/50 plan will be automatically upgraded to open speed with 120gb
Effective august 1st because "ogero something something" didn't make any sense
I'm guessing my line wasn't upgraded yet
So i asked if there will still be free night quota and the answer was NO.

There will be no more night quota in any of the new terranet plans but I'm guessing none of the other isps will have it either
He said there will only be 2 unlimited quota plans.. 2mb/s and 3mb/s (lol @ 3mb/s)

As a conclusion to this very long post.

Most probably none of the isps will have free night quota anymore
And their offers will only vary in max consumption 120gb +/-
So if you wanna make the switch to ogero just do it!

A question: my speedtest result is still 3.87 download
Should i keep testing or it won't change before August 1st?
I hope they will allow us to change plans before paying the next month or else it's another month we are paying old plans on new.
I have 4mb/50 now paying 40$ total with unlimited nights, I want to switch to open speed 50gb + unlimited nights which will be cheaper

IDM will have free night quota for sure
and it costs 4 $ excluding V.A.T
it's from a special trusted source of mine
Adnan wroteGuys I've found THE CAUSE of my SNR drops and CRC errors. Everytime the elevator is called, it happens.

Now I understand why the connection is better at night.

Now I'll wait for Sodetel's outdoor technical support to show up and see what they'll conclude.

Technical insights: back when my speed sync speed was at 4Mbps, I used to get little CRC errors which didn't affect the stability of the connection.

According to this source (http://www.increasebroadbandspeed.co.uk/graph-ADSL-speed-versus-line-loss-distance), if your current SNR target margin is 12 dB and you decrease this by 9 dB to 3 dB, this will provide a boost in downlink connection speed equivalent to a 9 dB reduction in line loss.

This means that at 4Mbps and 44dB line attenuation, my SNR used to be 16dB given these information:

1) Target SNR by ISP is 6dB.
2) My line attenuation on ADSL2+ is 44dB.
3) According to the source, (1) and (2) should give me a speed of 7.5Mbps.
4) My speed was fixed at 4Mbps, which is at 54dB line attenuation according to the source.
5) 1dB decrease in line attenuation is 1dB increase in SNR margin. My line attenuation is 10dB less than the minimum required for 4Mbps. So these 10dB go as a plus for SNR. My SNR is hence 6dB+(54dB-44dB)=16dB.
6) When the elevator is called, the SNR drops by around 8dB. 16dB-8dB=8dB. So at 4Mbps my SNR with the elevator's electrical interference is 8dB which is above 6dB which is why I didn't lose sync.
7) When I called Sodetel about my problem they fixed my SNR at 12dB. With 8dB decrease in SNR in case of interference, the SNR gets down to 4dB - which I noticed - and that causes the CRC errors to boom and the connection to hang.
8) I'll request Sodetel to fix my SNR at 6+8=14dB+1 extra dB=15dB.
9) 12dB current SNR + 3dB to get to 15dB => 3dB increase in line attenuation. This means 6.3Mbps max rate => Around 4Mbps actual downstream rate (because now at 7Mbps max rate I get 5Mbps, so I'm expecting 2Mbps actual rate less than max rate).

Hopefully this helps someone somewhere.
If SNR drops is caused by something after the building box the provider like Ogero will not take any responsibility into fixing it, they only test to the building box, with that said you need to follow the route of the phone cable threw the building and you will most probably find the cable going next to the elevator power which causing the SNR drop, you need to find a new route to your home that is away to any other live wires that will cause the interference.

I called cyberia and the guy told me that my speed is now open speed, but I told him that the stats on the modem didn't change, then he told me that this is the max my line can handle, I feel this is a little bullshit.

I told him that my snr can handle more speed and he proceeded to explain to me that snr has nothing to do with it, and the reason is my distance to the CO so I know he doesn't understand shit.
My line attenuation varies between 37 and 39, and max speed i can get is 5 MBPS, can you kindly clarify how you are able to get a max of 10 MBPS ? Thanks

what's ur snr
guys anyway I can turn off Parental Protection (ogero) without paying the CO a visit ?

Well if we can change plans over phone then why can't we turn it off on phone too? Give it a shot

hmmm i"ll try that, emailing Nader rifaii might work in your opinion?
So last night Ogero seemed to have upgraded my upload speed (I'm on 2Mbit unlimited), had 512kbps upload now it's syncing at 1Mbit/s , but in speedtest I'm getting 0.82Mbit/s

I witnessed the same upgrade on Saturday. I posted about it in this forum.
EDIT: Could you post your upstream SN Margin before (in case you still remember how much it was) and after the update? Mine decreased from around 33 to around 17.5.

Before: 25.5

Now: 11.5
Guys,

My SNR used to be 6dB with a speed of 7Mbps.

Now it's 12dB with a speed of 5Mbps.

This happened after I called support to fix my disconnections. However they insisted that they do not control the target snr value.
Who controls and sets the target SNR ? Why won't my modem attempt to go down to 6dB anymore ?

Given what I understood from Cyberia rep, it's Ogera that is responsible for the SNR margin thingy, it's a central ''problem'' and they need to update some things in the network so that the new speed is stable, it should take max a week.

I'm pretty sure they did control the snr target value =D

I have been noticing two weeks decreased snr (3-5db) it's all ogero's fault?
I use one of those small modem ups, but I notice if I plug the modem directly to the electricity outlet I get like 2 db increase in sn margin, what can I do I can't leave the modem without a ups

The story is long, it is not only any power usage from the same socket, any power usage on any device (example: lamp) using the same routed cable in the wall will affect the SNR, yesterday I completely stopped using the phone cables routed in the walls and I routed an ethernet cable which I connected directly to Ogero box and from the other end to a filter to split it into modem/phone, my internet is now not affected by any power from my side, I get 10mbps at 6.8dB SNR, I still notice a slight improvement to 8.8dB when power is down but I believe this is coming from the before the box (not my responsibility) and I might call Ogero for that.
