Currently, I'm with IDM and I'm very happy with them these days.

6mb/s 60gb plan, 60-70ms ping on ADSL/G.DMT, last month consumption was round 500gb, and there's no fup.

I'll stick with them for the new plans if they keep the unlimited night traffic and don't fuck things up with the open speed thing.
So I just read in the news that there's a cabinet meeting set for the coming Wednesday, let's hope this is finally the one.

I am afraid to spend the rest of our lives hoping in this country! haha
AVOlio wrote At my end, i will try for one month the 200Gb plan, and limit the YouTube quality at say 480p like now, or 720p max and pay attention to the usage of the internet. And it kills me to do that, because why would i stick to watching 480p videos if i have the ability and speed to watch 1080p and 1440p videos! What a cruel world!
We can limit youtube to 480p for all devices with out everytime changing it? Please tell me how

I can't control my little brothers everytime, and 200Gbs is too low for how much time my family spends on youtube without caring about the quality. 480p should be fine for 10" tablet I think.
make bandwidth limit on your router, this will limit same way as limited capacity of ADSL
nuclearcat wrotemake bandwidth limit on your router, this will limit same way as limited capacity of ADSL
No I only want to limit YouTube, I still want the extra gbs for downloading huge files.
Guys, super bad news.
Turns out our beloved and obviously far seeing visionary decided that FTTH is useless, so it won't be implemented, instead they will and i quote "only renovate and modernise the existing system", instead of swapping the whole copper network by fiber.

As per his opinion based by years of expertise in Lalaland, our network can deliver a minimum of 25mb once modernised (based on copper?).

Frankly whenever a politician make a promise, divide by 5 the minimum to be expected

thats technically possible too, but a bit harder (ipset dnsmasq + firewall), it needs skills, but maybe if many users want, and can use openwrt - i will make solution

Yea of course who needs fiber when we have copper ? man i just want to know how do they think?? well then we are stuck to a max of 25 mbps, as he said 25 mbps is "enough" for home internet..
they are doing fttc all over the country for a minimum speed of 50mbps so we're not stuck to 25mbps

Imad Kreidieh said that they will do fiber to the cabinet to everyone but fiber to the home for everyone is very costly.

I hope mr imad has a word in this

As far as i see it we are very very very far from having fiber connection , maybe our children will enjoy it , thats how far we are

There was a firefox/chrome add on that used to set the video resolution to whatever you choose. I forgot what it was, since I stopped using it after subscribing to unlimited plan.

Just keep in mind that this politician has said a few things which have proven to be incorrect later on, so take what he says with a grain of salt.

I wonder if all COs will have the "speed unleashed". I am not aware that all COs are equiped to handle such bandwidth. Maybe just COs in the large cities? Something to think about if the new packages are made official this Wednesday...

Another excuse to promote privatization of telephony and internet in this country, if they let private isp do the work then unleash a real competition between them we will all be wining, the isp will make lot of money and we will get faster and faster internet (while keeping prices low) . Tech evolution for the mass shouldn't be controlled by politics, these people give billions of $ for useless concerts (Byblos,Jounieh,...) but when it's for internet they suddenly don't have a penny
I am not sure it is good idea.
I believe ogero and private ISPs should co-exist, but this subject require balance finetuning.

oh my, this is genius xD
Well at least there's Solaire (obligatory praise the sun [T]/) to help you with that fight in the game, in real life we're alone to the mercy of the evil ISPs.
