i always had peaks on cable connections .. it was weird but for 5-10 secs the download would hit 1mbps and i had 100kbps download speed in 2009 .. I imagine this is the speed for the whole connection on the server and he had luck and no one was using the connection

I'm currently on a 4mbps unlimited but throttled connection, paying 60$/month. It's not Ogero or IDM or anything, it's a local provider and I don't know who his supplier is.
From 1:00AM till 3:15AM I get download speed of 165KB/s
From 3:15AM till 6:00AM I get download speed of 365KB/s (but not everyday, which is weird, I can't explain why)
While that has always been fine with me to get by, I am currently getting frustrated with how long my downloads are taking.
I need to download a whole lot of HD Documentaries, each documentary is above 6GB so you will understand my needs for faster connection.
So I went out looking at Ogero, Terra and Sodetel.
8Mbps with 100GB bandwidth per month for 67$ sounds very tempting and I don't have a problem refilling twice a month as long as my download needs are met.
So my questions to you are:
1. Will Ogero or Terra DSL be the solution to my problem?
2. I have no landline, how long will it take to get a phone line installed and DSL? From reading the other threads, it looks ominous, 2-3 months is just not gonna work for me.

As far as I know, at least in my region they are not providing landline numbers now because of very long queues and high demand. Don't know if it's the case everywhere else. And if by any chance you get yourself a landline number soon the dsl installation takes around 20 days.
ufodisko
They're not accepting new landline requests?
And how are people supposed to connect to the interwebs?
So it's an entire month to get everything set up IF I can get them to install a landline fast.
Damn!

I just purchased GTA V from steam and am planning on downloading it during my night bandwith at 6-7 Mbps. I did the math and it should take 3 full nights to download the 60GB files.
However, I'm really worried about getting FUPPED. What's the max "unlimited" cap you reach before you get throttled?
I'm with Terranet if that matters, and I have already used 33 GB in my unbilled night bandwidth.

Wow!قلبك قوي!!
I would never do this, its basically a money waste.
You could have ordered discs from amazon i think.

When is the next big step in upgrading the speed/quota of the Lebanese internet?
ahmad-toutounji
well boutros harb ( minister of telecom) said that they already put a plan for both mobile and landline (internet and calls..) he said the fttx would increase speeds, in other words without fiber we're not going anywhere and I don't know when they will be done, so if anybody know anything about this tell us please.

several people here have downloaded the game from steam, just post that you need the files, and they will export them for you to an external hard drive, i think this is the best solution, i will do that soon.

here is my issue,
I am a sodetel subscriber for almost 1 year, to the 1.5mbs plan, and for now I never had my speed reaches more than 0.8mbs, I contacted them many times, always throwing the ball into ogero's field, claiming that ogero hardware are not enough for the speed to reach its maximum rate, and was believing them till yesterday when I was helping my friend living in the same building setting his ps3 for online, we tested his speed, it was 1.7mbs for 2mbs ogero plan, and I was so frustrated of my 0.55mbs ps3 test .
we all want a reliable internet where I can play a pes 2015 match online without a 2 seconds gap between when I push the button and when the players execute the order, we all want high speed video streaming for youtube and other websites, and we also want affordable high speed with good quota, I need between 70 to 100 giga per month, going for 25giga or 45 giga package wont be smart, higher quotas get expensive and I don't know if they will really gimme me the speed acclaimed, any help will be appreciated, also it will be great to have some expanded detasils to help me get the right plan for me.
bottom line, I need help picking a suitable internet plan from Lebanese ISP, and I believe lot of us need this help, and I also know this is the best community to ask about this, lot of you know the issue well since we all share common interests about internet needs, also lot of you guys are professional in networking or have the experience and know exactly how it roles,
I need:
-Fast internet 1.5mbs and above (real 1.5mbs+)
-Online gaming suitable internet (my ps3 is taking weeks to finish a game update because the internet is not stable and downloads keeps restarting)
-Enough quota (I need to download games, videos, music, educationals, play online, fone usage, tablets usage for the kids, I use around 80gb per month plus or minus 10gb)
-Affordable (I have lot of bills, starting from alternative electricity provider to fone bills etc..., I am looking for something in the 30$ range)
please help guys :( (it was a good idea I copied this message cause it didn't post ...internet went off :(

At your budget, your best option is to go for ogero's 4mbps 50GB/month plan, it's for 50k lbp.
Ogero speeds are very reliable and constant.
Also their ping is the best public Internet pings you'll ever get, so you will not have any lag in your online games, and the player will shoot directly when you press O xD.
Put in mind that ogero doesn't have free unlimited night quota.
So, If 50Gb is not enough for you, your more better option will be ogero again, but the 2mbps unlimited package.
And believe me, it is truly real unlimited.
Go and stop your subscription with sodetel RIGHT NOW.
Even without thinking about your next ISP. Just stop with sodetel RIGHT NOW.

yeah sodetel is by far the worst ISP in Lebanon, even worse than IDM.
