AMD 64 3000+ 939 can be OC'd to 3800+
btw quantum has the cpu 3000+ 939 at 180$ but he only has the asus a8n SLI board, which costs 220$!
Looks like I'll have to go intel once again.
BTW he also has a 6600 GT but is selling it at 270$. So much for the 40$ difference.

Rolf , i only say something when i know its correct and yes i've checked 6600gt vs 6600 prices and the range was 30-40$ . Too bad if in lebanon they just want to boost the price , its not my problem . btw getting a 6600gt(128mb version ofcourse) for over 200$ is a rip-of ...sorry for any misunderstanding

i bought AMD64 3000+ 939(Winchester not newscastle or the newer venice with SSE3)+Asus a8n SLI from quantum and it is performing very good under windows x64.. i didn't try o/c seriously yet coz it is new i only played with asus automatic o/c and nvidia ntune( was able to hit 2000 mhz without increasing the voltage or playing with the mem, but i am sure i can hit 2200 mhz and if lucky 2400 mhz) (my system has 2 additionals case fans )
The 6600Gt is way to much at 270$ and the 6800GT is over 500$ so i bought a 6600 :( even thought the 6600gt is way faster coz it uses GDDr3 clocked at 1 GHz and 6600 uses only normal ddr memery clocked at 500mhz :?
By the way, i emailed pcnandparts.com 2 or 3 weeks ago about the 939 pin amd processor , my email was:
they repliedWhen will you get a Athlon64 socket939 processor? coz the motherboard Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe Nforce4 you sell can only support 939pin processor?
Have another question is the AMD Athlon64 3200+ part number a-9 is a scoket 939?

Even though they were saying that amd64 3200+ is 939 pin on their price page, check the Athlon processors price not the cpu+mobo etc..Dear Mr.

The 3500XP+ is a 939PIN processor.

so they confused me..maybe they won't sell the amd64 3200+ 939 without a mobo??!! :? so plz check with them and email them with questions and details b4 buying..
And the MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum is an excellent choice with sata2 but doesn't support SLI so i bought asus a8sli with have the same features with SLI but without sata2 only sata1 :)
This system made me broke so no social life for me for a time :p
and ah ddr2 is a tech for the future u can't take full advantage from them now, but it is a matter of time and they will be standards..only the latest intel support them as you know

sound is realtek alc850 8 channel the same one on msi, good with eax2 support but not as good as audigyzs2 or creative live!

A amd64 x2 4800+ is really 2 amd64 at 3500+ speed but u only get 3500+ speed in games, so an amd64 3800+ or 4000+ and even an FX is faster in games for now until we see multitasking in games..

but what do u mean by better compression? dual core will give better performance to applications that support it..
Actually, for example the textures used in all games like Quake and the rest, are all what we call compressed textures. During the game the 3d engine decrypt them and inflate them and sets the images. The 64 bit or duals are really tough in this first because they can double the speed of inflating and they have faster fps calculations,
