What should you do if you lost your hand phone?

Just in case you lose your mobile or it gets stolen.

Do you know this little trick? A little 'get your own back' if your mobile phone is stolen.

To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key  in the following digits on your phone :
* # 0 6 #

A 15 digit code will appear on the screen.
This number is unique to your handset.Write it down and keep it somewhere safe.
Should your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider
and give them this code.

They will then be able to block your handset so  even if the thief changes the SIM card your phone  will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back,but at  least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either.

If everybody did this, there would be no point in stealing mobile phones.
Please do this now & keep the 15 digit code somewhere safe just in
case.

thanks for the information charly - it worked w/ my sony ericsson ( I thought it was for Nokias only)

*UPDATE* i lost my phone :( but they said if i have the serial they can locate it

mazen, if you have a warranty i think they write the IMEI on it.

Unforgiven, check the IMEI nbr on the warranty card or on the Phone Box. If you find it, then yes they do locate the phone.

well, im guessing that the person who stole the phone, wont be using some1 else's card, but would be using his/her on the stolen phone.... they check out which number is being used on this phone and know the identity of the card's owner...

leish khayye you only need one day? Take a day off and go drink a ahwe with the darak.

Yeah that sucks last time I lost my phone they told me they needed a paper from the 3adlieh to locate it. That's totally stupid.
I had cellis at the time. What do you have?

a paper from the 3adliyyeh is the minimum they can do, they can't go around tracing people without government approval, that would be violating  their privacy.
