Eternal lands because it runs natively on Linux.

Besides, I have heard at the place that i worked that everyone was doing speed tests to haifa, and they actually receved a call from the governement security.
Totally untterly retarded.
As if I would open a direct connection to israel if i was a spy.

Ogero's main links have been stopped (GUESS WHY).

Since several days they are connected to Level3 (a crap undersea cable that goes to London Telehouse).
The link is really old and crappy with too much latency. Say "Goodbye" to low latency gaming (well, for me low latency means < 60ms).

So, for bandwidth testing choose Level3, London.

well, the link is really crappy. For RPGs it is acceptable (200-250ms), but you can't play CS or BF1942 or CoD in Europe over this link.

Here is what I can a low latency link (from my PC to an UT3 gaming server in London)

teodor@watchtower ~ $ ping 91.192.210.133
PING 91.192.210.133 (91.192.210.133) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 91.192.210.133: icmp_seq=1 ttl=122 time=44.3 ms

Re: Feedback for VISP

Teodor, do you use VISP ? And you used to attain 60 ms latencies ?

I play Warcraft 3 - TFT (DotA) on euro servers. Used to have pings ranging from 90 to 200 most of the day.

You used to complain that you had 1500ms+ while using VISP. What kind of service are you getting from Ogero? 128kbps ?

Re: Feedback for VISP

Few more upgrades today done.
We got confirmation also about upcoming upgrades that will let us to restore almost to same capacity, but after holidays.
Meanwhile i will manage existing things and i need to reconfigure all QoS systems.

Including latencies (for online gamers) ?

Re: Feedback for VISP

Yes latencies are more important than bandwidth for online games especially at weird ports like game.eternal-lands.com:2000

This is exactly what i would like to know. I do not really care if I have a 1mbps with 900ms lag. I prefer a 512kbps with 150ms . I believe this is going to be the hardest part. But who knows... I trust VISP. Lets wait and see.

It's getting worse. Today after 11:00 AM, gaming over port 2000 is dead. over 8200ms lags :(

Re: Feedback for VISP

Browsing should be fine, with all generic applications. But still there is lack of bandwidth for rest of things.
Expected update after tomorrow (because of holidays).
First will be restored youtube, then QoS will be updated for other ports.

Observations

Improvements :

* I can download through rapidshare / gamershell / etc. once again.

What Remains :

* Youtube (cleared by nuclearcat .. he said it'll work on tuesday)
* Speed (cleared by nuclearcar ... he said it will be restored little by little)
* Gaming (no idea if we'll ever be able to play online games again. What can you tell us, nuclear ?)

Re: Feedback for VISP

I don't use youtube. /me only plays Eternallands

EDIT:..
Speaking of games. EL uses port 2000, what ports do other games use?

Does it mean every single port has to be worked out?

Re: Feedback for VISP

Man , I swear I thought that the service was back to normal, Internet connection is back as it used to be. I dont really care about latency, 300ms or 500ms doesnt really bother me, I am not an online gamer, but again, the connection feels really very fast. Crossed fingers..

btw maybe it is just because I am using the proxy ? no idea.. but it went fine for me since yesterday.
