this is a very basic up ( line interactive ) all of the sub 100$ ones in pcandparts are line interactive

I don't think it is an online UPS since it is relatively cheap. I think it is Line Interactive with Automatic Voltage Regulation (balance between offline UPS and online UPS). You will be OK having that type of UPS since it has protection against power surges. Unless you want to pay much more for an online UPS.

If you're looking for just a minute of backup time any mediocre UPS will do the job, line interactive isn't good for poorly made hardware but you won't be running it for more than the switch over time on the UPS so it won't really matter.

I have a few of those 480w UPS around the house for such things, one for the Xbox+Satellite, one for the Router+AP, and a large one for 16 POE cameras+NVR (this one is 720w and has external batteries for large outages). But all line interactive in the end.
my entire house ups ( for solar power ) is line interactive because it's cheaper
my server room is online
but as beezer said it will work

An online PSU is much efficient and has a pure sine wave output guaranteeing a safe and reliable power supply by continually regenerates new, clean AC power through its continuous duty inverter and seamlessly operates on AC or DC (battery) power. However it comes at a much higher cost.

Has an Efficiency of: (720 W / 1500 VA )× 100% = 48%

APC 2000VA SRV2KI Online
Has an Efficiency of: (of 1600W / 2000 VA) × 100 % = 80%
I have bought Prolink line-interactive from pc&andparts and it is very good so far.
Fast switching speed, voltage protection and a reliable brand.
I would suggest you go for that.

Tips:
- When buy Line-interactive UPS, go for higher VA as they are less efficient, just remember 1.5K and up have noisy fans).
- Go for the 850 or 1200 VA, as it is better value for money and you might use it for something else later.
- pcandparts you would have to pay in cash USD only.

Wow that is very absurd to oblige to let people only pay in USD with the current economic downfall and capital control with in country that has 90% of its manpower being paid in LBP.

Nevertheless , I total Agree with you and has been following this approach since years.
